One thing that is clear is the market has no clue how to interpret these numbers given share price completely flat. Will take a proper look through them this evening.

Q3: net proceeds from capital provision assets from cashflow statement
$132m proceeds
$102m funding
=$30m net inflow

Cash balance reduced by $109m after $124m financing outflow (-$130m debt repaid
-$4m treasury +$10m third-party contributions)
= $15m net cash inflow in Q3 excluding financing activity

Solid enough results although $30m inflow from capital assets only led to +$15m cash

The drop in commitments is high but a single portfolio agreement would reverse than in q4. Better to focus on the 9 month figures imo

I guess if you look at the "last 3 months column" in the first table, all metrics are less than in 2022, except cash receipts . I think this is what Chester means. But hardly means much in the long term

Only glanced through but in what way are these less favourable? Looks good to me and finally showing really strong revenue growth.

Usual share price action, what we really need is an accelerating trend of significant cash realisations......

Complaint with a demand for jury trial was lodged with Houston court on 21 July. Damages to be assessed post discovery. I would suggest the quantum is so significant shareholders deserve some insight into the case

If that is the case it is a masterclass in litigation.

They acquired the entire case by their partner being impatient and emotional before succumbing to business sense (they need to work with their suppliers). The bad publicity effort failed to work and the backtracking on their obligations made Sysco lose in court.

What is the potential time scale on this? Is it likely to go to court in 2024?

Sorry, spell check. A jury trial and triple damages, to be estimated after discovery but Greenhaven suggest the amount for Burford will be 6bn

The chief defendant was owned by Eli Lilly at the time. Payment will.not be an issue.Pleading says they want a industrial and triple damages.

I too think the business is doing well and am interested to see how the YPF judgment and the acquisition of the Sysco claim come through in the results. The headline figure may reflect a downward adjustment as a result of interest rate expectations but that will likely be reversed next time. As ever, the results will be incomprehensible but commitments will tell us which way the wind is blowing

Based on continued momentum from H1 outcomes announced on 13th September. The further catch up on covid cases. The announced reinvestment of funds and indeed adding funds to invest in future opportunities, which a numerous.I am expecting growth for years to come and with Burfords success rate at picking winners eventually the market will catch up.The market does not like the low dividend it would like the company to be transparent on just who is getting the payouts, understandable but Buford reinvesting just keeps the company growing. Worries on exit plan for BOD are too early in their life plans.

From Seb's twitter

"Argentina proposes start the appeal process in the YPF Expropriation Case on Jan. 23, 2024. The Republic will file the first set of arguments to appeal every single ruling by Judge Preska. I don't expect a ruling until Oct. Nov. 2024."

question follows :

thank you Sebastian. Is it right that Judge Preska has to rule on two issues
1) whether enforcement should be stayed pending appeal, and
2) whether ARG can appeal without posting bond?

thanks for all that you do!

This is like The Restaurant at the end of the Universe (Douglas Adams); eventually, after all these delays, Argentina will owe more than the entire future GDP of the planet.

From SebOn Tuesday, Argentina will file a presentation trying to persuade Judge Preska to wave the requirement to post a bond to avoid the attachment of sovereign assets. I expect a ruling within the next two weeks. Reminder: Presidential runoff -> Nov. 19.
