11/6/2007 17:09 | Ambivalent attitude pevailed today. Buyers are reluctant to commit, not suring the price won't drop tomorrow, so were sellers not being able to ascertain the directions. Have a good night sleep everyone. Tomorrow any slightly good result will send this share to 340. GL, | ![]() watwungyi

11/6/2007 07:46 | mitzis - 10 Jun'07 - 14:27 - 589 of 590 Quote Biffa must bring home bacon Shares in waste management company Biffa have had a good run since it was demerged from former parent Severn Trent last October, gaining on hopes that widely predicted consolidation in the industry will lead to a bid. Its own performance, however, has been less good: fierce competition has meant it could not raise prices as much as hoped, hurting profits. This week's results must show that it has worked out a solution: otherwise only bid hopes will support the shares. Unquote I hope they do! | ![]() johne1
11/6/2007 00:08 | From Oct 2007, waste must be demonstrated to have undergone treatment before going to landfill. What that means is small collection-only companies will find it harder to comply with this regulation. Usually they are not equipped with sophisticated technology to sort waste before selling them to landfill owners. But Biff has infrastructure to respond to that legislation. And in the long run, integrated management companies, like Biff, will fare well. So if you are holding, like I am, for long term, there is no reason to be panic about any short term pricing pressure, as long as they can keep customer base. Short term movement is anybody's guess really. But I added quite a bit at 319, mainly CFD positions, as I expect no more bad news are expected since ta. Fingers crossed and good luck to all, Hope Tuesday result brings some nice bucks. | ![]() watwungyi

08/6/2007 08:01 | I think key culprit in this mess is Jap. They are now in a position to begin raising interest rates (not 25 or even 50 bp) But the whole 1 percent and more. So in order to make money out of bond yield spreads, there will be pressure to raise interest rates inother countries which were involved in 'carry trades'. But if central banks don't raise, rising yen will mean sell-off anyway. | ![]() watwungyi
08/6/2007 07:57 | Good morning Johne, Tate is worth holding during stomry periods. But negative sentiment will affect quite alot of stocks and I expect I will get better price by selling now and coming in later. No such sentiment is seen in my ohter holdings, including Meggit, Biff and DCG. So I'll hold on to them. Stocks nowadays are trading 20 -30% premium 'on valuation ground'. Now the environment which gave rise to these premium looks to be deteriorating. Morgan Stanley advised its clients to sell equities and they pointed out surging bond yields in US and German bunds. I sold Dow futures last week and cloed it too soon with a loss. If I just had left it open, I would have been dancing now. Sometimes you gotta believe what your instinct tells you and not get frightened by what others've been doing. But this time, I am completely out of all my holdings, except, a few asian holdings and MNE, Biff, Mggt, DCG, BGY. No Blue chips, no miners, no financials. | ![]() watwungyi
08/6/2007 07:45 | I'm still here with my 16,000 shares and won't be tempted to sell even if there is a sell off today thanks to 200 point drop on the DOW. It will be interesting to see how far the FTSE drops in relation to the fall in the US and Far East as recently the FTSE appears to be decoupling from the US. My broker (Walkers Crips) tips BIFF as a strong takeover prospect. I continue to hold on that basis | retroz3
07/6/2007 22:37 | Hello watwungyi Good to read your words. I will continue to hold these. I have also held onto TATE. Right or wrong, I like the dividend and see it as a long term play - to add to. Good luck with your holdings and whatever you buy into. I am busy reading through the past broker notes for this company and, through the mist, the biggest chatter has been as Tom89 states about M&A activity. | ![]() johne1
07/6/2007 21:32 | Hello Johne, I am still here, a very loyal biff holder. The market has given me further opportunity to add more at 319.5. Morgan Stanley advised its clients to sell equities. Dow was down 200 points and we'll see a carnival from now on. I have Dairy Crest, Biff, BGY and Meggit only now. Get your cash ready now, we'll be rewarded for being patient. | ![]() watwungyi
07/6/2007 16:39 | Interestign Tom89 I went long today on the basis that some people feel its break up oparts are worth a lot more than its share value so maybe its more than a relative value play and soemthing is up..........certainl | ![]() seagreen
