Possiblt bid for Sainsbuys this morning underpins the exposure Biffa has to a take out I would not sell for the time being.

I don't mind all this inter-day variation in the share price but it would be nice if for the first time since I bought ten days ago the price would close in the blue!

Apparently some vague talk about a placing. Anyone heard anything?

We gotta see who's gonna get the PFI contracts. The tricky thing is this sort of contracts run for at least ten years and if you get it, you are safe but if you don't then it will not be easy to expand your market shares unless through aquistions. Biff's portfolio is overweight with commercial customers. But once they can secure more and more public-private pfi deals, I can tell you everyone will be chasing it.
These guys, Bettington and co, have been in this business for decades and I think this should help.

Watwungi, I hope you found your own answers to your questions in post 314.
I have in the past two or three months splurged 25K on a dozen different stocks including this one. I don't invite anyone to imitate me.
I'll decide which ones to add to and which ones to weed out later on. Over time the good ones come to the fore by their own growth. Each investor has to find out what is right for him. With this one, Biff, I thought "where there's muck there's brass" but also other considerations. Like "in waste disposal you comply with all kinds of laws and directives". Biff are well placed for this.
On the other hand the divi looks a bit low. But this should come up as profits rise. Time will tell.

I bought in today - it's people like me who let people like you take profits! That said, I see 400p (ish) as a target over the next few months.

I liked the Ch/Execs comment that the waste industry had been a bit of a Cinderella in the kitchen but was now coming out onto centre stage....
lets hope a handsome prince turns up here with a golden slipper for shareholders to try on for fit

yes! I've changed it now, it has been my only deal so far this year and has proved to be a good one :-))
(well 2 deals to be precise as there was a buy and a sell)

Morning mitzis.
18 months? There's not many potential takeover targets left out there like this one - my timescale is by the end of 2007 although even if nothing happens on that front this strikes me as a sound medium to long term investment, which is why I reinvestited my 'safe' SPW money here at the start of 2007.

It is a surefire takeover target I would expect further rises to 400p this year and a good chance of a bid within the next 18 months.
