17/5/2007 17:19 | I got back in a couple of days ago as I had sold my entire holding on the morning of the results. They still look a class outfit, relatively safe and I also think they will get bought out. I am watching the volume but its still pretty low beer. | retroz3
17/5/2007 15:44 | Hi Wat, Biffa looking strong today, still keeping an eye out for bid approach/breakout, hope i don't miss the boat as usual. | ![]() theband
16/5/2007 10:06 | The share price is showing a healthy rebound over the last few days. Lets hope the recent low is the floor. I am still convinced that Biff will get taken over this year. It has such a low profile that there isn't much interest on the bulletin board. | retroz3
15/5/2007 11:00 | There is no connection - PTT is ramping all over the place because AXS had an optimistic write up ( can turn softwood into hardwood) in IC this week as the next TAN. | ![]() tom89
14/5/2007 17:10 | Please excuse my ignorance. What is the connection between BIFF and AXS? I just don't get it. | ![]() johne1

14/5/2007 11:31 | Just re reading an article in IC from 13 April WHO TOPS THE BIDDERS LISTS? "out of the major players that leaves Biffa looking the most likely bid candidate. It is UK focused, owns some valuable assets and can undertake a broad range of activities which makes it well placed to win future PFI contracts..." | ![]() wynmck
09/5/2007 23:05 | Hi the band, Nice to hear from you. How have you been? I took some profit from Tate yesterday, Tuesday. It was a day earlier. Had I waited I would have gained a few more. I am coming back, but opportunity came up at BAE and REX. Also it seems a bit too crowded at Tate now. Some profit taking seems inevitable. So I did it before others do. This one I am trading in and out keeping some for long term. 322 - 332 was a trading range recently. WRT Tate, I think the sale of European units is a good thing because margins there are quite week 4-5%. So money invested there should be moved into better margins areas and hence better ROCE. I would rather they didn't return sale proceeds to shareholders. Instead they should consider paying off debt. They should be more concerned about long term investment than trying to please quick profit takers. I recently looked at Meggit, BAE and Rex and they look very attractive. Non-cyclical and guaranteed income. What about you the band? What have you been busy with? I am more and more into derivatives and commodities futures. But I still love studying the accounts. Cheers, | ![]() watwungyi

04/5/2007 10:33 | Hi Johne, Nice rise today, isn't it? so far. Hope the momentum continues. There are a couple of contracts (Southwark and one in Midland or north?) they are bidding. And the result of it should come out soon. Hope, of course, biff got them. | ![]() watwungyi
03/5/2007 23:21 | Hello again watwungyi. I am gradually researching this company. Some of the words, on this thread are really good. To make it more interesting, I have bought some. I hope it does not turn out to be the 'kiss of death'. After all, I am not the greatest share trader. I will be optimistic. I realise that mid cap company shares have the potential to deliver good returns. However, I also realise that those same high returns always come with higher risk than with Blue Chippies. If I am prepared to risk money on AIM companies, then I am sure the risk here is much more tolerable. I watched the share prices for a short while today. The movements are quite fast and I don't really understand the logic. Perhaps you understand better from your level 2 data. Is it different market makers quotes which change quickly? Anyway, I will read more, in the limited spare time which I have and hope to post something more useful later. Cheers | ![]() johne1
03/5/2007 21:03 | Sometimes it may be frustrating to wait. We don't know what the future holds. But if the share has good potential to go up, it could go up tomorrow, or anytime. Look at FCD it was dragged between 265-280 and stayed at that level for some time, and when the breakout occurs it's now over 300. So it's just a matter of time really. I believe you won't lose out for holding this share. Hope it goes up soon. | ![]() watwungyi

02/5/2007 12:50 | With their statement of FY revenues and pofits to come in at the lower end of market expectations, I've decided to sell these for a small loss of £75 as I'm bored with them going nowhere but sideways. | prankster2
01/5/2007 06:52 | Johne, I am also trading as carefully as I can. Still remember losses suffered last year. Some shares in mid-cap bear very little corelation with Dow. Biff, I think, is one of them. Defensive nature of this stock, although very little product differentiation, means it's a good time to take shelter during stormy weather which seems to be looming ahead. I am now looking at commodities and options trading to take advantage of increased volatility. Yesterday Dow was down right in front of my eyes. I have been looking at point of entry to take short position. Perhaps I missed the good one yesterday. I think Dow should go below 13K this week depending on the data and sentiments. Get ready if you want to take risk for some healthy rewards. Cheeers, | ![]() watwungyi
30/4/2007 22:51 | watwungyi - 30 Apr'07 - 17:28 - 527 of 527 Hello again. I find you here, there and everywhere - like ships that pass in the night. I hope your entry at 327.5p is good timing for you. The Dow Jones Industrial Average looks poorly at the moment. I hope that does not have too much of an impact over here, tomorrow. We shall have to wait and see. I have most of my share dealing funds in LLOY but, this looks an interesting company also. I have read some of the fundamentals and if it performs like Severn Trent, then it should have a long way to go. Do you believe in the old adage "sell in May and go away"? - I do, however, I did not follow my rules last year. This article reminded me: - - it is a US document but, I think the same applies. I have no other words to write at the moment but, look forward to exchanging notes at a later time. Cheers matey | ![]() johne1
30/4/2007 17:28 | Oh Hi Johne, Very nice to see you here. I was away from this for a bit and today I added some at 327.5 which was the closing auction price. The shares have been trying to break 334-5 but been unable to do so. But did not seem to want to fall much from current level. From my experience this is telling something. For example look at FCD, it was unable to break 283 for a while and fell back as low as 270. But never beyond that. During this time, volume was steadily picking up. And today it closed at 290. What a day for FCD! So I think this one will go through the same fate. Fingers crossed. Good luck and cheers, | ![]() watwungyi
30/4/2007 10:08 | back in 1989 i visited my sister in new york, she had her rubbish removed once in the morning and again in the afternoon. you can imagine my surprise. | daftvader3
28/4/2007 11:17 | Well, I'm really looking forward to this going sub 320 so I can add again. Let's face it this share is only going one way in the future and that's up. The reduction in household collections to once a fortnight will just not stick, as soon as they link a problem to public health issues it's shot. Compare us also to France for example where even in the North they have collections 2-3 times a week and in the warmer South, every day. Don't be fooled either by the green bin one week and black bin next routine to sort the rubbish, they do that as well in most of Europe and it doesn't affect the collection rate. This government is already shot and stunts like this will just hasten their demise still further. They're out of ideas, stuffed for money despit the stealth tax robbery and will be severely and rightly punished in the forthcoming elections thank goodness. Biffa is a star of the future so I'm filling my boots now before people clock on to it. | ![]() warranty
25/4/2007 08:29 | Hello watwungyi, I am here to tell you that I will be reading through your words here - perhaps tonight. I posted some words yesterday. They are not here. Perhaps I posted them on another thread. That might have caused some commotion - never mind. Thanks for bringing me here and good luck - here, there and everywhere | ![]() johne1

20/4/2007 17:11 | that's a bit unfair on the IC ;-) You do have to sort the decent tips from the more risky ones (Jessops at 130 approx f'rinstance) but in general if you look at their overall tip portfolios, their record is pretty good. And I've never heard of a tipster or tip rag who gets it right all the time. (if anyone knows of one let me know). All I can say is that I've been a satisfied subscriber for ages and it's made me probably thousands of percentage points more than the subscription cost (which is very good value anyway imo) as well as being a decent read and including access to their rather decent website. Right, that's enough sticking up for the IC. In any case the biffa figures looked good, so as I've had enough of gambling for a while, sold a couple of risky shares and put the cash into Biffa for a hopefully stress-free run to 420 or so. I like to let ftse350 stocks form a base foundation in my portfolio and not think about them and then run aim/small cap gambles on the top. Everyone builds their own strategy I suppose. | ![]() alansmith23
