14/3/2007 12:24 | retroz what i did is i buy in chunk. today i have already made three purchase, as my broker charges in percentage, it suits me well for this one. if you have dma access, it's better for this sort of stock because of large spread. | ![]() watwungyi

14/3/2007 11:01 | I sold my 16,000 shares yesterday at 3.41 but intend to buy back in when the market settles. The question being is this a shake-out or are further drops on the way. I still think Biffa is an excellent buy and will not remain independent for long as there is major consolidation happening in the industry and Biffa is a prime takeover target. | retroz3
14/3/2007 10:58 | I thought yesterdays AFX added some more weight to the possible takeover speculation surrounding BIFF. | ![]() luderitz

13/3/2007 20:07 | I have faith in Tate, the band. Even if splenda sales disappoint, there are other strong areas and EPS for the whole year would, I estimate, be slightly less than 50p. So current price is a huge discount to it. Also their capital expenditure has been impressive over the years. There is one particular ratio, I use, the ratio of cap-ex to depreciation, which indicates the company will be going well in the long run. We are talking about a couple of months drop. I am down roughly 10% with Tate, but I accept the current negative sentiment around the splenda slaes. So I am holding on to it. I may underwrite covered call options to compensate for and for a bit of extra income. It's good news for those who haven't bought anything today. Dow was terribly battered. There would, I think, be further fall as the yen unwinds. Yesterday, Japanese govt announced they have to raise interest rates 'quite a few times'. So further fall should be expected. | ![]() watwungyi
13/3/2007 19:52 | The thing is WAT, i'm loathe to get back in something youre in after the tate & Lyle debacle, but I'll forgive you this once. The thing is, this is looking strong, and since the cory deals gone through seems a no brainer for revaluation in a northerly direction. I just wish the yanks were out of the equation, wall st. down 220 as i post, but whats that, a p... in the oceon. Maybe I'll get lucky and Biffs marked down 1st thing. | ![]() theband

13/3/2007 11:34 | Volume seems to be holding up well when compared to the market in general. Are investors buying BIFF as a defensive stock or could this be the beginning of someone building a stakehold? | retroz3
13/3/2007 11:28 | It's showing good strength considering the market is still some 250 points off the recent top. | prankster2

08/3/2007 12:12 | And the article is headed "Quality Street:20 Stocks you need to own" BIFFA:The shares lost more than 20p at one point last week-the first big dip in Biffa since it floated last year.Prior to the mkt downturn, the waste management outfit has been a terrific performer. Investors now have a great chance to get in,as the shares are likely to come flying out of the traps once the mkt turns. Biffa is seeing massive demand for its services and is also a firm bid target. | ![]() wynmck
