They've managed to increase the div a tad for the last umpteen years.I think its yielding about 8% for me now, so as long as theres nothing drastic (a big cut), i'd be fine with a div freeze. It's covered 1.5-2 times anyway so I'm expecting either a freeze or a minuscule rise.Forward guidance/clarity (hopefully optimistic) the bigger picture mind.

They are still winning plenty of contracts in the US, it is all about the Middle East order side, Australia and to an extent the Typhoon order out of Preston, seeing the retirement of Tornado’s in the UK, will that lead to any job losses in Lancashire!

Agree chief, I can see a fall in sales but hope the div increase is maintained.

German arms ban to Riyadh sparks UK concerns over BAE contract
UK says post-Khashoggi measure hits company’s ability to honour Typhoon contract

A German ban on arms exports to Saudi Arabia imposed after the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi has caused growing diplomatic tensions between Berlin and London, amid concerns that it would prevent BAE Systems’ supplying some parts for the Saudis’ Eurofighter planes.

The move by Berlin to stop exports to Riyadh has hurt supply lines and caused consternation within the consortium.

“We’ll soon get to the point where the Saudis can’t fly their planes any more,” said a person with direct knowledge of the problems. “Someone’s going to have to pay — this is causing millions of pounds-worth of damage.”

At issue is the German government’s unilateral decision last October to suspend arms sales to Saudi Arabia, its second biggest customer for weapons after Algeria. The ban caused frustration among many of its allies, in particular France, because it covers all weapons that include parts made in Germany.

BAE declined to comment. The company is likely to come under pressure to address the issue when it reports its results for the full year on Thursday.

As well as the Typhoons, the German export ban has also affected the supply of Meteor long-range air-to-air missiles to Saudi Arabia. The Meteor is assembled by MBDA, a joint venture of Airbus, BAE Systems and Leonardo, while its propulsion system and warheads are manufactured in Germany.

Interesting look at the future of deciding a career choice.....

New research by BAE Systems reveals three-quarters of Generation Z (centennials) want more information on tomorrow’s jobs and the skills they will need and more than half are worried about the right training to future proof their career.

DeanF. Ah Ternhill, that was still operational when I first joined up (early 70's). Now an Army barracks but even now the runway is still in use by RAF as a flight training site.

I went to Sealand in 1950, on an ATC Gliding course. I didn't see much of the site, apart from the Officers' Mess and the airfield.

Stoke Heath had 13 sites, as I recall, of which 4 or 5 were work sites, Coles Cranes, Bedford buses, General Engineering and Airborne Radio Servicing Squadron. Over the airfield was RAF Ternhill, flying Harvards at that time. 34 MU was a lodger unit on 30MU and was a repair and Salvage unit. We had lots of old aircraft arriving for breaking up, including a Lincoln with the Napier Eland turboprop mounted in the nose.

I was helping to look after the Married Quarters, doing marching in and out inspections in company with the Barrack Warden.

DeanF, yep thats the place. Back in your day was it split into two sites by a main road? If so I bet you would not recognise the place now!

Is that the former RAF Sealand, 30MU as was in 1950? We used to go shooting on the range there when I was at 30MU, by then at RAF Stoke Heath, in 1953.

This is great news for Sealand, a base I have had dealings with for more than 30 years. Its also a good signing for BAE.

The UK F-35 avionics and aircraft component repair hub in North Wales has been awarded a second major assignment of work worth some £500m by the US Department of Defense.

The winning solution builds on the innovative joint venture formed between the MOD (DECA), BAE Systems and Northrop Grumman called Sealand Support Services Ltd (SSSL). SSSL support work and services for F-35 are scheduled to commence from 2020.”

BAE Systems has received a $114.5 million contract from the U.S. Navy to perform maintenance and modernization of the guided-missile destroyer USS Bulkeley (DDG 84) in its Norfolk shipyard.

The value of the competitively awarded contract could reach $136.2 million if all options are exercised.

I note the beeb coverage tells us a squadron of drones would cost around £7 million, then illustrates the report with photo of a Reaper. Not quite what Gavin has in mind I think.

Viking, F35 is an interdictor. Typhoon is an air superiority a/c (with developing ground attack capability). Typhoon (and other US a/c) and F35 complement each other to complete the mission. F35 is not an air to air combat aircraft but does have self defence capability (primary beyond visual range missiles of one type or other). Currently it is undergoing gun trials but these have yet to be approved/certified.

Yes the F35 has great capabilities but a complete lack of firing power. It would be running back to base every ten minutes to reload. The Typhoon though carries far more armaments.
