A German ban on arms exports to Saudi Arabia over the Jamal Khashoggi scandal could blow a £2.5 billion hole in the accounts of BAE Systems and scupper a £5 billion order for 48 Eurofighter Typhoons, potentially putting thousands of jobs at risk. Shares in the British defence company fell nearly 8 per cent yesterday, taking them close to 3½-year lows, because of concerns over contracts with Saudi Arabia, its largest customer after the British and US governments. - The Times

In many ways I imagine a political problem in Germany as a result of their commitment in recent years to allow considerable numbers of refugees and the like into Germany from North Africa and Syria, when Austria, Hungary stating no more. They see Yemen becoming the next place from where migrants and the suffering will be seeking new homes, the Stockholm agreement regarding the ceasefire or truce is delicate, so we will see.

I appreciate what you say, but what we do know is the German stance on new orders, and its contribution in supplying support and components for the weapons systems for the Typhoon, this will have a bearing on the MOU as regards the potential £10bln. contract due to be agreed upon in the near future. As stated it is not critical currently, as they are attempting to mitigate the effects, but at some point it could become very difficult to undertake the contract, this appears why the company suffered y’day!

Just to help you do a bit of research, take a look at what BAE SYSTEMS does. Germany has no, or little control over company exports.

Kinda depends somewhat on the March 9th review by Germans whether to allow export permits to Saudi Arabia.

Just gotta be cool about it ; it will bounce back. Look upon it as a buying opportunity if you can , a short term blip if you can't. I won't lose sleep over my large holding.(Plenty of other holdings to worry about!)

Sources from Goldman Sachs, but then what does it matter, it is just frustrating when you hold the stock, flagged earnings yet the market treats the results with contempt.
