Right I’ve got chapter and verse now on this golden ticket story. Without going into too much detail the punchline is it’s certainly still open but it’s very well provisioned to solvency 2 standards and in any case could potentially get settled out. It is also in a place where they could let it go but politically and regulatorially that’s not going to happen. So net net it’s not viewed as an impediment to fr sale. Hence why it’s a look through in share price

Aviva names international chief executive
by Terry Gangcuangco 07 Dec 2020

Aviva names international chief executive
Aviva Plc will be welcoming a returning alumnus in the form of Adam Winslow, who is assuming the newly created role of international chief executive in 2021.

Currently the CEO of global life insurance at AIG, Winslow is making a comeback in January after leaving Aviva nearly eight years ago. He previously served as retail director and partnerships director for Aviva UK, and from the New Year will be in charge of the group’s international businesses in continental Europe and Asia.

“I am determined to change Aviva and unlock value,” said chief executive Amanda Blanc. “This requires the strongest possible leadership team. Adam Winslow will bring focus and decisiveness as we manage our businesses in continental Europe and Asia for long-term shareholder value.”

Winslow’s appointment will see him come onboard the group executive committee at Aviva. Chris Wei, meanwhile, is saying goodbye to the insurer at the end of June following his stint as Asia executive chairman.

Blanc commented further: “I’d like to thank Chris Wei for his leadership of our Asian businesses over the last six years. Chris has been invaluable in our strategic review of Asia and will be leaving Aviva next year following the successful divestment of our Singapore, Indonesia, and Hong Kong businesses.

“Chris leaves with our huge thanks and best wishes for the future.”

Spud. I have heard of a few RAC/S226 policy’s that carry a GAR which is only exercisable at age 60 or 65 on a specific date. On occasion the GAR has been lost because the correct exercise procedure was not carried out exactly according to the schedule. Be careful read the schedule twice and take advice. Rest assured that the insurance Co will only pay the GAR if they absolutely have to.

I guess what I'm trying to establish is whether the guaranteed annuity is the big thing the pension company is making it out to be. spud

Apologies for the off topic.
I have a guaranteed annuity on one of my pensions which is applicable only if I take it aged 60. The pension company seem very keen that I do and indicated that it could be worth far less if I didn?t.
Any views from the sages & I understand that with scant details it’s difficult to give a firm view.

The good news coming in the next year or so isn't priced in. Value always outs in time. Keep the faith.

You could be right Trev. I've given up trying to second guess the Market now as I ended up wrong more times than right. An acquaintance of mine recently sold at 260p convinced that it would pull back (as it had on numerous occasions) but.....Anyroadup, best of luck! spud

Sold my entire holding here yesterday with a very healthy profit and not because it’s a bad stock but because we could see a bad market if negotiations breakdown. Its also been my experience lately that they take a stock down toward the dividend and then hammer it after so I’m seeing a possible buy back at £3 but that’s just my take on things and obviously I could be very wrong. Obviously it’s a gamble and I won’t cry to much if I get it wrong and will be more than happy for all holders if I do so GL all.

Best not to be short over the W/E as more positive news could happen at any time. Not that sure how a Brexit decision will impact/influence the sp?

When you look at these large businesses, it seems they all go through periods of rubbish, overpaid BOD’s and are lucky to get out the other side.

O/t for example why on earth would the BOD’s years ago at the big retailers think that long term leases were ok ? Many of them would have been signed when it was really obvious that shopping was going to move online. I expect plenty of them left with the usual obscene rewards.
