Trouble is nobody knows what anything is worth. What impact will Corona, Oil and US Recession actually have.
Saw the same flight from stocks in 2008.
I recall my paltry £30k portfolio dropped to £6k. I remember it well.
Probably in 24 months everybody will be congratulating themselves on buying at 280p, 300p or 320p, all of which are probably good prices to buy in at for the long term.

Worst case scenario is already priced in IMO. Was made worse due to oil price spat which should be resolved in due course, and media hyperbole. CV-19 well under control in China now. Appropriate measures elsewhere being taken to mitigate it's impact and virus should attenuate. Can see the share price hitting £6 or so In 18 months time regardless of current short-term volatility!

Despite that, I genuinely do not see yesterday being the bottom.

In fact, the rise today is quite inexplicable, nothing positive has happened, nothing has changed, we are still a good way off from peak infection in this country and globally.

So much negative sentiment to come Imo.

The recession fear is very real. People were concerned about a crash occurring in 2020/1 before there was even a whiff of a global event that is crippling supply chains.

My advice at the moment is to not get carried away by these rogue blue days.

March 10, 2020
Aviva Astra International
The deal is subject to regulatory approval and Bangkok Bank’s acquisition of Bank Permata in Indonesia

International Finance Business Desk
UK-based insurance company Aviva plans to sell all its shares in its Indonesian joint venture PT Astra Aviva Life to PT Astra International, media reports said. PT Astra Aviva Life was established as a joint venture between Aviva and PT Astra International.

It is reported that the deal is subject to regulatory approval and Bangkok Bank’s acquisition of Bank Permata in Indonesia. PT Astra Aviva Life was set up in 2014. In 2018, the company comprised more than 750 employees offering services to more than 1.4 million customers, according to the company website.

The insurance company said in a statement, “The transaction is expected to be completed in quarter four of 2020 and is subject to certain closing conditions, including regulatory approval in Indonesia and the completion of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited’s [Bangkok Bank] acquisition of PT Bank Permata Tbk [Permata Bank], Aviva Indonesia’s bancassurance partner.”

In 2018, PT Astra Aviva Life had more than 750 employees offering services to over 1.4 million customers. The joint venture in the last quarter of 2019 total assets amounting to Rp 5.9 trillion, with a Rp 900 billion year-on-year growth.

Last year, Aviva reassessed its Asian business under the leadership of new CEO Maurice Tulloch, media reports said. It has decided to retain its Singapore and China operations. However, the company is further exploring opportunities for operations in Indonesia, Vietnam and Hong Kong.

Recently, Aviva renewed its partnership with multinational bank Santander. The partnership will offer life insurance to UK customers until 2026, media reports said.

Don't try and nail the bottom. Split your investment into a few chunks and take advantage of range of prices over the course of the crisis. Squirrel away money into blue chips during the coming weeks and you'll be glad you did a year from now.

#1127,

Now, Alp, that was my point. I already bought a few when they went under 350 so I'm already down on those but whether I buy more now or even lower down, there will still come a point when they all seem cheap. Other than by luck, none of us will catch the bottom entirely, but I'm happy to tuck away at these levels.
