20/7/2022 15:51 | Hi discO Apologies to one and all, I was about to remove my defective link above when I took another call and got delayed... this link has now been removed. My pound cost averaging stakebuilding is progressing, and although most of the purchases to date are a little underwater, I am satisfied that intrinsic value will out eventually :-) Disco, I like your approach to taking advantage of the dip, I wish you good fortune. Today has been most enouraging for AHT, plus 148 @ 4087 pre close on volume above 1.19m as I type, what's not to like? Edit: Final close +135p up 3.4% to close 4074p on volume 1.6m .... nice! | perfido
20/7/2022 14:22 | PerfidoLiterally just about to paste the same link, you beat me. | disc0dave45
20/7/2022 14:13 | Post removed. defective link | perfido
20/7/2022 13:22 | Will try and dig out the article, thanks. Just been reading the market report from Polar Capital Trust (ticker PCT). Very interesting, nothing conclusive really although they do say that the S&P500 is now at its 5 year PE rating and not far off from its 10 year average. They also say that based on previous bear markets the fall is only two-thirds there, but depends on whether a “recessionR An interesting read anyway, may be tech biased but that’s one sector I’m now looking at (again) as some stocks are rated lower than some consumer staples but with greater growth forecast and net cash. | disc0dave45
20/7/2022 12:53 | disc0 The part about mortgages, if correct, is maybe more concerning than the energy cost increase. | bracke
20/7/2022 12:39 | Hi Mr bI've already seen his doom and gloom concerning energy costs, not new news IMO, yes it will reduce household spending on non essential items but certain demographics are still spending. There are massive backlogs of work in many sectors which are now feeding through so some (only some!) will be doing okay in 2022/23. Don't believe it's all doom and gloom tbh but then I'm a glass half full type of person. | disc0dave45
20/7/2022 12:26 | Thanks PerfidoI am being very cautious, only dipping into those companies that have recently given very positive outlooks, are fundamentally sound (strong balance sheets with oodles of cash) and they are not likely to be getting downgrades from brokers (he says hopefully).Hope you are doing okay too. | disc0dave45
20/7/2022 11:43 | Good day disc0 Yes I noticed a definite reduction in heat today. Winter woolies time? The link below is to the Martin Lewis site. Click on 'Martin's Warning For New PM.' Be warned people of a sensitive nature may require counselling after viewing it. I had to quickly run and hide behind the sofa until it was over. And you thought I was pessimistic. It will not accept the link. Suggest you go to 'Money Saving Expert'. | bracke
20/7/2022 11:15 | Well done DiscO, To quote Terry Smith: 'there are only two types of investors, those who know they can't make money from market timing, and those that don't know they can't' '...if you buy shares in good companies at reasonable prices, you'll still make money, its the intrinsic value that matters' I look forward to toasting your success :-) | perfido
20/7/2022 09:48 | Good day Mr bDoubt I've caught the bottom and there may be more dips to come but I feel there's not many more sellers around - could be way off but only time will tell.Have a good day, bit chilly today so wrapping up warm! :) | disc0dave45
19/7/2022 19:16 | Good day disc0 Pessimistic or realistic? Has the market bottomed out or is there more downside to come. Looking at previous market bottoms there are a number of signpost indicators that are triggered. So far the current fall has only triggered approx 18% of them as opposed to 70% average over the previous seven bear market bottoms. Maybe it's different this time but looking at what economies are facing that would be surprising. Could it be that AHT will avoid most of any further fall. The chance of buying any share at the very low is unlikely so hopefully your scrawny toe dipping will have judged it about correct. | bracke
19/7/2022 17:05 | Good day Mr bOh so pessimistic!.....Nobod | disc0dave45
19/7/2022 16:35 | Good day palwing Were you going to say BOTTOM. Surely not, there are more 'nasties' to come before the BOTTOM is reached. | bracke
19/7/2022 15:27 | Shhhhh...no one breathe a word, but is this the..nope, can't bring myself to say it. GLA. | palwing32
15/7/2022 12:33 | I thought South Korea was at least in the top 3 Netflix operations.... | fenners66
15/7/2022 12:17 | Pertinent abstract from ADF:"The Group serves customers in an industry that has experienced significant growth in recent years, with additional demand driven by a material rise in the consumption of film and HETV content via streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney and Amazon Prime. The UK film and TV industry has directly benefited during this growth due to the quality of its production facilities and studios, highly skilled domestic workforce, geography, accessibility to Europe, English language environment and strong governmental support. Major US streaming companies have now set up permanent bases in the UK, with the UK now Netflix's third largest operation after the USA and Canada." | disc0dave45
15/7/2022 11:42 | Good day Mr bCheers, yep too expensive and in a downtrend. Even the IPO price seemed top heavy but an interesting sector in terms of growth potential (barring the C word!). | disc0dave45
15/7/2022 11:32 | Re post 61014 the Ashtead RNS 8621B 'Change in presentational currency' dd 15th June 2021 confirms that: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The sterling dividend will be translated at the prevailing exchange rate a week prior to its payment, the date of which will be announced with the respective results. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ end. | perfido
15/7/2022 11:27 | Just for fun. Lower highs and mostly lower lows. ADF DAILY | bracke
15/7/2022 11:10 | Following the acquisition of PKE lighting I had a quick look at similar businesses within the UK film and TV industry (in terms of productions).ADF recently listed on AIM in Jan (at 50p), their latest results have some interesting commentary with regards to the significant growth in this sector within the UK. IMO it confirms that AHT's growth and diversification strategy is spot on.As an aside, ADF looks a decent small cap prospect but does seem to be expensive and has a big chunk of debt.....but on my watch list :)HTTPS://www.invest | disc0dave45
15/7/2022 11:03 | Thanks PerfidoThe yahoo link I used also had 9.3p dividend so spot on. | disc0dave45
15/7/2022 10:49 | Good morning discO Apparently we can expect an announcement on the dividend £/$ exchange rate about a week before payment on 9th Sept, based on the then current exchange rate. Edit: original post removed, see also post 61018 . | perfido
15/7/2022 10:15 | Guess around £40 will have broken the downward trend line? | disc0dave45
