Well when the alternative is watching shares break all time record after all time record, you've got to find something interesting to do.....

AH YES! Mean, Median, Mode

Skewing outliers, very devious.

Thanks fenners.

I note you have been busy of late posting on another thread. It's an unending story that never gets anywhere but keeps s/holders in suspense with a 'carrot' always just beyond reach.

good day bracke

The average may be higher than than yesterday's volume - but looking at the chart it was higher than the mode (or where the mode would be if there was one)

Your mean is skewed by some outliers, hence decent volume.....

The US markets are in 'charge up' mode with all the news appearing to be good. Trump out, Biden in, vaccines becoming available, Santa Rally. What more could bulls want.

The share price appears to be establishing a support zone at 3150. It did break through when it attempted to fill the gap at 3092, was 6 short but considered it was close enough and moved back up.

Resistance is at 3270.

Support is at 3150 then 3100.

"Decent volume here today though"
================================

The volume was 1.028 million.

Daily average volume is 1.176 million.

So it was below average. Are you seeing something I am not?

Extreme Greed - ha ha -

it's over cooked by 2 or 3 thousand if not more - anyone trading on fundamentals might as well pack up for the foreseeable -

Good day rescuer

The CBOE 5 Day Average Put/Call Ratio is very low which suggests extreme greed. Thanksgiving Day is on Thursday so maybe there will be profit taking tomorrow?

Most of us would be happy with a DOW fall of 200-300 points.

To bring the US back to earth probable requires Mr Biden to increase taxes.

dow hits 30000, --- speechless...

the entire mkt imho is way over cooked.

we'll be celebrating P/E's of 2000 at this rate, that's if anyone make a profit this year.

was that the Dow's last throw, it's pulled back as i type.

Having been poised to fill the 3092 gap on the 19th the moving averages baulked right at the point of doing so. They are back to a decision point now. What's it to be.

6 points short of filling the gap. Maybe OPEX will help finish the fill tomorrow.

Today's volume of 2.5 million is interesting. 980,000 were sold at the open and 410,000 in the last hour. As usual the share price held at a 'round £' zone.

Good day kilgallp

The two vaccine announcements put the boot into my thoughts of 2750 for the time being but I still hold to the premise of a 150-200 point drop. The daily chart suggests the share price is about to turn down so I'm thinking 3000 for first support.

Surely the market will not rise every time a new vaccine is announced.....

I remain attracted to 2750 which was a very strong s/r zone. I will be surprised if it does not visit that zone again but probably not until next year.

Got this badly wrong. Sold my holding in September, expecting a retrace, when I would by the shares back. Only to watch it keep moving up. Bracke, if your 2750 happens I'll be back!

There are so many pit falls it's impossible to avoid them all rescuer. When it goes wrong for me I review my actions did I do something silly or fail to do something I should have done. Attempting to avoid the use of hindsight.

I always bear in mind LTCM. Considered to have the best brains in the business and they got it wrong. So can the rest of us.

I remember you posting about JLP. Small oil and mining companies are a punt. More often than not they lose you money but occasionally they pay off, it's a lottery.

was hoping i may have learnt by now Bracke, 20 years here and still not made the millions -

see JLP posted amazing results today, pity i sold out on the March crash and bounce - got out with a profit, but that would have been plus £80k if i'd stayed with it.

hindsight and all that -

good luck on your FTSE short, you ought to be OK - can see a pull back this week.

Good day rescuer

Woe, Woe and Thrice woe!

It's always the same with the media - sensationalise. It's not until you read the small print you see the true situation. Needless to say the markets love it; volatility every time.

The markets will be losing their friend Mr Trump so they will have to make do with 'Sleepy' Joe.

I had a short running on FTSE so got caught out. I did not close it but opened another and am averaged at 6081 which I'm ok with.

We live and learn.

Ouch! I imagine the market rise will have caught out a lot, such is the trading life.

Unless the rise is a breakaway a drop back to 2750 appears likely in the mid term.
