"There's always (well nearly always) that little dip at the end of the day to take the shine off it."
=====================================================================================

There is just no pleasing some people!!

The intraday high was 2950 and close was 2933 which was 17 points from the day high. Both are all time highs.

It does look set for 3000 but will probably drop back after achieving it to irk fenners.

Good day rescuer

I trust you are well.

I can't see any particular reason for to-days move but it's a typical move by AHT. When you think it will move it doesn't and when you think it won't it does.

I have little doubt it will come back to 2800 but uncertain how far it will go the other way. 3000 seems a bit of a push but this is AHT.

AHT rises while rescuer sunbathes....a touch of the Nero's

I was going to buy some GAW at about 360 but they jumped to closer to 400 and I decided to wait !!

Doh!

Good day fenners

Perhaps you should contact the Board and complain that the share price is rising too fast. They will probably tell you it's due to the mention of buybacks at the AGM.

Games Workshop

I remember looking at it many years ago and thinking how could it have such a high share price for a toy plastic figure manufacturer and look at it now. The divi yield is meagre which is barely covered and the PE is 36. If you do a comparison chart for GAW and AHT it's enough to make you weep. One wonders at what point the GAW bubble will burst....or maybe I've 'just got it in' for toy plastic figures....

That's not my couple of pence a day !
But if someone wants the share price to overtake Games Workshop I will not complain....

That's a nice move up this morning to an all time intraday high and no gap.

EDIT

It would be surprising if there was no profit taking at this level.

The SMA200 is at 2400. The last visit to this SMA was mid June. A trend line connecting the lows since 15 June places a possible drop to this trendline at approx 2560. I am not suggesting an immediate drop to these levels but they are worth bearing in mind. In the short term a retrace to 2800 appears probable.

These are just my thinking aloud so if you think they are complete rubbish no need to post so I will take it as read.

Whether an opening gap fills during trading or at the end of trading is immaterial. The gap fill has allowed traders to buy/sell at the previous closing share price ie they have not been trapped. All's well that ends well.....sort of.

Sorry to hear that fenners ..

In the meantime I think I spotted an opening gap this morning, interesting to see whether this fills tomorrow... (purely from a bystanders viewpoint)

I was referring to the AGM resolution 17:

'That the directors be authorised to make market purchases of the Company's shares under section 701 of the Companies Act.

for: 317,588,120 - 97.47%, against: 8,245,151 - 2.53%,
total votes cast: 325,833,271 - 72.57%, votes withheld: 211,855'

I do hope your rather inflammatory post hasn't spoilt fenners celebratory dividend day lunch!

"Please don't get fenners started on the dividend again, we'll never hear the end of it..."
===================================================================================
I purposely avoided direct mention of it! I know it is a subject close to his heart, which is where he keeps his wallet.

"As for the share buyback programme, I note that a resolution was passed at the AGM, but I'm hoping it goes unnoticed. :-)"
===================================================================================

Fat chance!.....but just in case

'The Group paused its share buyback programme in March as we took action to optimise our cash flow and strengthen further our liquidity position due to the uncertainty arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. We resumed greenfield openings in the quarter and, within the context of our balanced capital allocation policy, leverage range and macroeconomic backdrop, we continue to assess bolt-on opportunities and the appropriate time to resume the buyback programme.'

I agree what's happening to a share price more recently is the main focus but sometimes it is useful knowing the history of a company's performance if only as a reminder of the result of ridiculous valuations.

Don't spend all you divi at once. I believe fenners puts his under the mattress, nearly broke his neck getting out of bed recently.

"if/when things get choppy"
==========================

I think the 'if' is redundant! I am reminded of the expression 'may you live in interesting times'.

Dividend received Friday, lovely jubbly!

AHT has done well recently, sold 10% of my diminishing holding @ 2840p today to bank some more profits, happy to buy back if the price drops appreciably if/when things get choppy, e.g brexit, US elections, pandemic etc
