Sadly persistent battering again, after the apparent breakout a few weeks ago. Have to assume it is recent buyers taking profits, but but the large spread on these shares the profits must be marginal and hardly worth it.

Jesters... were employed by the rulers. In roman times they were entertaining crowds. Poking fun of the ruler. Ruler was confident and took it.

Later jesters entertained the.ruler and his co in private. Populus excluded. Not enough confidence by the ruler.

Last week one of my great value shares brsd was not only late. It reported after the market close. They are turning positive cash flow now and do not need markets any more.

2 days later they said they will delist. No more reporting. No divis. Just growth costs covering.

Excellent management - they will be saving listing money. Full respect.

Just a thought on good management practice for AAU. I support reason. As a loyal long term investor - a supporting patient non trader quality educated experienced one. I trust them. I support them. Otherwise i would sell.

At 50 % loss at the brsd delisting news btw market has no function in pricing any more.

As they have not enough projects on their hands they are going for something misteriously new. As BB rightly said.

My focus and hopes are on something coming. I do not bother much on what we have atm.

New. Great. Must be better than all at hand including 100 % owned Tiger. Otherwise it does not make sense to dilute the assets quality. There is no limits for AAU expansion. With our funds we will support something NEW. And all what we already have. Easy peasy.

Also glad contributers focus on the cash and cash flows and their location in the octopusy structure- beyond dominat geology discussions.

Thanks for that renniks2016, interesting reading though the following extract struck me as a bit of mealy mouthed hedging - “There is a strong possibility that the Slivova Project could evolve into a fully operational gold mine in the future”. I do hope so as am back underwater with AAU though still hopeful that KS will achieve what he says is a golden future for the company and, I trust, shareholders too. Cheers. Gla.

The foreign exchange loss of 4.6m relates to the transalation of the balance sheets of the Turkish subsidiaries (Lira from 0.44 to 0.3, 33% decline). £5m pounds of Turkish Plant at 31/12/22 would now be valued at 3.4m (5m /0.44 x 0.3), so a 1.6m loss (ignoring the impact of depreciation).

Transalation losses over the last three 6 month periods are 1.9m, 1.6m and 4.6m. These are non-trading losses, which is why they reduce Other Comprehensive Income, rather than Retained Earnings.

The losses don't affect the assets themselves (based in Turkey and are probably worth more in Turkish Lira now than when bought new), just the GBP reporting value of them.

trust is all very well, but you have to keep an eye on them, and I'd like an explanation for the comment about forex loss given they previously said they don't keep the cash in Lira except for local expenses.

Holding gold maybe done as a hedge against holding a weak currency like the Turkish lira. Which always seems to be depreciating in value. Gold Bullion held at Market value at 30 June 2023, was £1.761m with a cost of £1.382m with a unrealised gain of £379k. Which I believe is still held, unless there was note in the accounts as being sold after date. Gold price has come down recently and should still be showing a decent unrealised gain at todays price. I cannot see why they would not use it as hedge against currency gains or to make short term gains on the volatility of the gold price with cash not immediately required. Note gold is like cash in the bank can be readily turned into cash when required, hence a current asset on the balance sheet.
Remember AAU is a gold explorer/producer and its decisions are based on future price of gold and see no reason why it should not be able make good use of this knowledge.

They are aware of the finances both current and projected. They have six million in cash and bullion. If they had 13 million ie no dividend given then everyone would be screaming why aren't they using the cash. They can't win. Everyone has opinions but we are investors and must trust in the management. I've had issues with marketing but none with regards to strategy or operations , obs occasional hiccup but I'm happy and added today.

It's a valid point being made that more of the cash will have been spent since the financial period being reported.On reflection maybe that special dividend was a mistake, looks to me like we'd have been better served by it staying in the company?

It's mentioned Asgard would be the sorce of money so I'm not sure how much there is in there. I'd reckon a £1m investment . But wtf do i know. It's all speculation on my part but I've explained my rationale. May be a part investment rather than a buy out but planter needs money to invest in Canada.
