Truth be told I expect most goldies follow the underlying commodity price to some extent. That stands to reason.
I am not sure Ariana follows the gold price anymore than any other and an easy statement for Kerim to make rather than talk about the other reasons like the broker thinking we are pretty much fairly valued and not attracting new investors or institutions.

The figures just don't support that either. I have added May 2021 to December 2021 to my calculations and the correlation is now down to 21%. There is no evidence to show that when gold goes up AAU goes up more or the opposite being true - to take just one example, in early July the gold price was around £1,307 and AAU was 5.10p; in early December. the gold price was around £1,343 but AAU was 4.0p. There are many other examples I could provide which show similar results.

It's a nice story for Kerim to use but he would need to provide figures for me to accept the hypothesis.

I thought that was incorrect. What he should have said is when gold goes up AAU goes up more and opposite is true. In effect it's got a higher Beta .

When I did a correlation between AAU share price and gold, it didn’t support that theory at all. It showed that for the year April 2020 to April 2021 only 38% of the movement in AAU share price could be attributed to the change in the price of gold.

That was Kerim himself. EFT's in particular he said. I know Malcolm Palee , ex of Mining Maven, has always been of that view as well. Fingers crossed. The back cloth seems right - inflation etc etc

Someone said recently that the share price of AAU follows the price of gold, I hope he was right. RNS yesterday and the share price didn't drop, a new dawn for Ariana?

The Turkish lira hit a fresh all-time low against the dollar on Thursday after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan removed several finance officials ahead of today's interest rate decision by the country's central bank.

Erdogan replaced deputy finance ministers Sakir Ercan Gul and Mehmet Hamdi Yildirim with Mahmut Gurcan and Yunus Elitas, while he also fired several other senior officials in charge of public financing and economic programs and research. Despite the lira's drop, Erdogan remains insistent the country should stick with low interest rates and analysts expect the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) to further cut rates.

The dollar jumped 2.38% against the lira to go for 15.16726 at 7:51 am CET, after hitting a record 15.30425 earlier in the day.

in poker - one has to have to invest money and knowledge. with some luck and lots of effort he wins. means absolutely nothing. the pot must be taken at the end !!!!!

hence gamblers were armed with pistols, gambling knives etc...

human nature still the same ...

enforcement of pot taking is crucial .... but it helps a little you won the hand

FWIW, AAU have done ok compared to peers. Some very oversold looking companies on this list. Credits for info is 100% due to Chipperfrd.

I know - but it is just the general legal frame work. We never saw details going deeper

like in the UK - one cant do anything in a lifestyle Co as a minority but sell - despite the regulators and similar minorities protection legal framework being in place. all perfectly legal and you cant ever see a cent - despite profits, growth etc
