The polls will only make sense if and when dementia Joe can get through the debates.

As it is - this week he couldn't even remember the number of grandchildren he has.

As someone with experience of it - he has it clear as day.

#3Sporrons/Lefrene..

In spite of the carnage unfolding, it is genuinely an interesting (if not worrying) time for economics / fiscal / monetary policy, uncharted waters and making it up as they go along..

From my sedentary economist position I back my hunches, and just do not see how massive increase in the currency supply levels can not result in devaluation of the same proportion over time, and corresponding increase in any asset class prices denominated in those currencies, the USD is 6 fold in supply so far over the QE of 2008..

Gold/Copper/Silver for starters... :o)

UK gov debt now at more than £2T for the first time ever according to the so called experts on the telebox, hmm, Cheers Wan :-)

MMT - Modern Monetary Theory,,,, they say,,, is,,,, all well and good, but, works on the premise that GOVN is better than the private sector at allocating resources & determining the preferred way forward for economies & the aficionados of the theory welcome BIG GOV and that's such a big difference from where we were a decade ago, when GOV were embracing austerity, talking about shrinking the footprint of GOV and allowing the private sector to determine the allocation of resources,,,, now, this is much more an issue of politics rather than economics,, the jury's out as to whether or not MMT actually works,,,, but, there is a rising expectation that the medicine that the central banks can provide to markets is now quite limited,,, and is akin to pushing on a piece of string, in contrast the GOV spending route can absolutely drive forward,,,, the question is, what happens when INFLATION accelerates, because the real test of MMT is that we will pull back GOV spending when inflation rises because that would be the Keynesian approach....

However it is very clear now that there are a number of academics now writing on MMT and saying what the hell, we can carry on spending even when inflation is higher, because, actually we think BIG GOV is a really important part of building a better society!!!!

Brasso3, the present management can go about advancing the company in any way it likes at the moment, There will be no desire to have a big share position from a major and having to talk to then every time a major decision is made...now they can just do it.

Sounds like the Saudis are winding up the rhetoric for another oil price war...
Interesting article worth a read as it gives a good deal of background to the fantasy economics of SA and its mirage like oil reserves that never depreciate despite them selling oil for decades.

Having failed to achieve the slightest semblance of success in the two oil price wars that it started – the first running from 2014 to 2016, and the second running from the beginning of March to effectively the end of April this year – it might be assumed that key lessons might have been learned by the Saudis on the perils of engaging in such wars again. Judging from various statements last week, though, Saudi Arabia has learned nothing and may well launch exactly the same type of oil price war in exactly the same way as it has done twice before, inevitably losing again with exactly the same catastrophic effects on it and its fellow OPEC members. At the very heart of Saudi Arabia’s problem is the collective self-delusion of those at the top of its government regarding the Kingdom’s key figures relating to its oil industry that underpins the entire regime....

LND,,, aha, many thanx dd/Brasso,,, I had no idea share splits can work both ways, how interesting,,, along with their motives for doing so,,,, very interesting indeed,,,,,, AAZ should read below in my humble opinion and do the opposite, a split,,,,,, but what do I know, cheers Wan :-) LOL

The Board considers the Share Consolidation to be in the best interests of the Company and the shareholders in the Company ("Shareholders"), as it believes that the effect of the Share Consolidation will be to improve the market liquidity of and trading activity in the Company's shares. The Directors believe that the existing share capital structure is no longer appropriate, as the high number of shares in issue combined with the relatively low price per share is thought to result in excess volatility and reduced liquidity in the Company's shares. By proceeding with the Share Consolidation, the Directors anticipate that a higher price per share will improve the marketability of the Company and could increase interest from institutional investors in the UK and overseas which should improve the liquidity of the Company's shares.

"excess volatility and reduced liquidity in the Company's shares"

"could increase interest from institutional investors in the UK and overseas"

well done LND,,,, I really like your motives :-)

Cheers
Wan :-)

Now that's significant Brasso, well a start anyway,,, its easier for the big boys to go out an acquire, rather than take the time, effort & risk to go do the exploration,,, which is exactly why I feel AAZ has taken an interest in CGNR and will be bought out once they show what's in AZER,,,,, just my opinion and I know most others, with the exception of cmb,,, disagree with me :-),,,,, we shall see :-) Cheers Wan :-)
