Market is not as fluid as the drop would have you believe. Nowhere near the stock around from willing sellers, but an ideal opportunity for buyers that are lucky enough to get what they want

You watch big oil companies start mopping up conventional oil companies. They have to to mitigate the losses on production and profit from the venture into shale.

They will be mopping up profitable oil companies as sure as eggs is eggs.

I borrow money, but if I can't have a project requiring borrowing that can safely project to earn at least 3 times the cost of the borrowing then I consider the project.

If a company or the market has access to billions of dollars at virtually no interest, it does nothing to increase productivity or overall profitability, as it encourages no hopers, and in the case of investment in the last few years. TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS looking for a home because of artificially low interest rates.

The rout in share prices was way overdone, PE ratios way out of line, caused in the main by stupid zero interest rate or negative interest rate policies which provided the lifeline for U.S. shale production, where even with that they all are non commercial.

U.S. debt is out of control, so they have to raise interest rates to attract more money into the dollar as its falling out of favour, and many believe the petrodollar is about to die which is what has sustained the U.S. economy for years.

With interest rates at a more realistic 4-5%, you can knock off at least half of the 10,000,000bbls a day purported to be produced in the US.

The only alternative to save shale then is much higher oil prices.
