Our 'slow' friends at ONGC Videsh have now issued a tender document regarding the civil works at SOL-1, with tender submissions required by 12th February. Completion of the site and access road is required within sixty days of the commencement. So it looks as if both Indico and Sol could be drilled by end of June. Looking good, folks.

One day, Rohan, one day...

They found hydrocarbons but not in (easily extractable) commercial quantities.

So back to the dividend. Wouldn't it simply be a way the board could say "here you go, we're not keeping it all to ourselves any more"

Changing the subject slightly can anyone remember what happened to Jaguarette-1 that we drilled in San Pedro Paraguay??? Remember hearing it was spudded and that was about it.

The main costs beyond operating costs and tax is depreciation of the assets, which is just part of being an E&P company. When you pump oil, you remove it from the balance sheet (where it was added as the capex for development).

Any dividend should be paid out of free cash flow (as opposed to operating free cash flow) with a view of the capex requirement going forward. The EPS is pretty irrelevant given the size of those likely non-cash items and operating free cash flow is never more than a guide to the underlying ability of the company to produce profit (it strips out most of the one off costs and tax complexities).

Personally, I maintain that a dividend offers far more positives than negatives, a 1% dividend would show company maturity, the ability of management to show some financial discipline and the confidence of management in the companies future.

I also don't think it would be the end of the world if Amerisur started leveraging up in a conservative and manageable way.

The other option would of course be a simple semi-regular return return of capital, if the companies share price is so far below it's "true value" then management should be looking at ways to bring that in to line. I think there are a number of ways of doing it:

1) Sell CPO-5 and return capital to shareholders.
2) Initiate a nominal dividend
3) Initiate a share buy back
4) Apply for a full listing on the main market.

From the interview I see '1' as the most likely, though I would personally prefer '2'.

Obviously dividends come out of post tax profits as reduced by admin costs and depreciation and amortisation etc.So whilst operating cash flow is going to be huge (already c.$350k) per day the final post tax profit will be much lower. However the forecast is for some post tax profits in 2018 and these will increase as we get closer to 20k bpd.The other thing that could happen is a sale of CPO-5 which could give us a very large one off sum which surely must enable dividends. Anyone know what oil in the ground is valued at- a while ago I heard $10 per barrel.A 2p per annum dividend would cost the company around £25million and 4p around £50million.

cairn got big tax case penalty comin as well innit

The arbitration proceedings are well advanced, and the Tribunal and parties have now agreed the process and timetable for finalising document production, submissions and hearings. This includes some extensions to the previously agreed schedule, and taking into account the Tribunal and Parties' availability, the final hearing has now been scheduled for August 2018.

A comparison of Cairn Energy - aiming to produce 17,000-20,000 b/d has a Market Cap Of £1.24 billion. Amerisur - aiming to increase from 7,000 b/d to maybe 15,000 - 18,000 b/d has a Market Cap Of £242m. Doesn’t really make much sense to me. Even on current production there is a heavy Market discount seemingly being applied to Amerisur.

Paying any kind of dividend opens the door to a whole new class of investor and is either a zero sum option or hugely beneficial. We're not going to spend all our money drilling holes in South America if it's rolling in at $300kpd

Does anyone know how many of the planned wells the company actually drilled last year - I don’t recall seeing many RNS’s giving drilling results. If anyone plans to go to the AGM that would be interesting to ask either GC or JW. How much did we save in cash flow by not drilling?

It wouldn’t hurt the company to pay a dividend based on the pipeline savings - after all it was shareholders’ cash which paid for it. That would still leave huge cash resources for drilling and expansion.

Squib, he doesn't announce
The co on the other hand can do so and it'd be in their interests
For whatever reason, he has been selling which imo has kept the price and his inv down
Once he's cleared or down to a nominal amt(and I have seen this elsewhere) and the share price shoots up
It's going to happen, just need patience
Must be incredibly frustrating for JW/GC aswell as us
If it stays down much longer I see a bid coming in and impatient shareholders will accept it which would be a shame as future value is likely to be far greater
It will be a bargain to a bidder this yr.
I have added another 25k
Now my largest hdg

And they're welcome to St Mellon's. Looking at recent comments on TA it seems they're still offering a poor environment with staff who are not motivated to serve!!

Will be down again in May to see what JW can impart this year.

from the theories expressed about RH -
for him to announce he was out and allow the share price to boom, would appear to defeat the suggested logic of RH's desire to see the share price be hurt
