We are in a formerly FARC, coca growing stronghold, where the issue is getting farmers to change their cultivation practices, after compensation for the destruction of the coca crops.

ELN are in a few pockets on the west coast and mostly on the Venezuelan border.

Numbers involved are few: not exactly "stand up, oountable" citizens, but estimates vary from 2000 to less than 1500 and dwindling, exhausted by the struggle. Most reporting suggests that recent activity is just to get a better settlement deal (probably immunity from prosecution being quite a high priority). The problem for them is that time is running out: a new government might be more hard line and the knowledge of that must weigh heavily on the remaining ELN.

Still bullish but not so bold and clear blue skies eluding us again.
22p proving to be resistant but 20p proffering support for the moment.

Whilst this development is a means to an end in its own right, when coupled with the forthcoming visit to Ecuador by GC it suggests wider opportunities are being explored. Amer is extremely well placed and has significant operational and political experience in the region, so without counting chickens this all looks quite promising. Quite timely, too, given the approaching AGM.
