Getting Started

Welcome to ADVFN! – the leading provider of real-time financial information to retail traders and investors around the globe. This guide is for someone who is new to ADVFN or even new to investing. We will try to show you how to navigate the site and use its most common tools. We won't cover everything but will do our best to provide enough information to get you started on your investing journey.

Monitor - Set up your watchlist

What is the Monitor? The monitor is the beating heart of ADVFN. It is basically a watchlist that allows you to view multiple quotes at once. You can create numerous lists with 110 symbols on each and watch the dynamic prices throughout the day. The page is fully customisable, you can add, remove, or create some alerts for any stocks on your monitor. You have complete control over the quote information shown on each page. You can view anything ADVFN has data for within a monitor list, be it shares, indices, forex rates, futures, options, or warrants. If ADVFN has a data feed from an exchange, you should be able to add the instrument from that exchange to your monitor.
