As the time to their hedges ending shortens, this will get worse and worse if oil stays low. This will then not be sold with PIs benefitting - it will be carved up by creditors and insti's, leaving small holders in the dirt as usual.

Soon to be Hurricane Danny, early days but could be a very powerful & destructive hurricane, especially if it swings up into the Gulf after moving through the Carribean. I think large upside for crude prices if that p,says out, so staying long.

Here all bets off if we go sub 200p, already made a fresh low this morning. Commodity&Energy stocks in a savage crush, forget any stocks with large debts, they are likely to fail.

I would just look to pick up bombed out multi national plays like Shell, BP, Rio etc

That disturbance is now upgraded to tropical storm "Danny"
Also read that certain El Nino configurations ("Modoki") can actually increase atlantic storms rather than decrease... Good luck with the trades.

Good luck holmess, chart curving up a little.
Personally still think a touch of 200p is on the cards within the week.

There will be a lot more articles like that over the coming months. Combined with being at the bottom of the price channel and most indicators showing the stock as oversold it seems a reasonable risk/reward entry point imo.

I don't think so NYBoy - Of course is 200/210 support goes all bets are off. I think we'll see 275/280 in the next few weeks.....

This stock is still languishing, another mini dead cat bounce, below 200p could see a fast downside move to 150p

Closed that oil trade for a few pips. OpEx in WTI Sept today - could be volatile either way so dont want to get whipsawed out. Might be a buying opp in TLW today.

Watching closely - could be a reversal here given the downtrend bounce and several oversold indicators.....

Thx for weather link.
Had an oil long this morning, tight stops too - still sidelines regarding TLW. Want to see what the yanks do when they start waking up.

Looks like bottom could be in for now as hit the bottom of the down channel trend line, if so should quickly test 280p resistance, especially if crude also has a short covering rally.

Agree but this one potentially could be one quite dangerous, already developing, see link...

An excuse for a short covering rally if it becomes more menancing and is heading towards the gulf

Bought crude $41.79 earlier tight stop $41.19

NYBoy, worth bearing in mind El Nino tends to reduce atlantic hurricanes
but if everyone is expecting a reduction and a hurricane does crop up then could have quite an effect.
Also El Nino should bring a warmer winter to the US so less demand for heating oil. Think we might see WTI lows in Oct/Nov ahead of the early Dec OPEC meeting.
If OPEC dont reduce then PoO lows could be early next year.

Interesting disturbance developing, could become a tropical depression, possibily leading to a hurricane, how big , not known yet but heading in the right direction so far to potentially become disruptive.

Worth watching crude for clues, currently $41.80

Disturbance 1: 50% Chance of Cyclone Formation in 48 Hours

As of 2:00 am EDT Mon Aug 17 2015 ...
Showers and thunderstorms associated with an area of low pressure
located several hundred miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands
continue to show signs of organization. Environmental conditions
appear conducive for development during the next few days, and a
tropical depression will likely form by the middle of the week
while the system moves westward or west-northwestward near 15 mph.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent

Suggestions by commentators that WTI to test the $40 level during the course of the week which may drag Brent down to the mid-$40s.

Noteworthy commentary on the prospect of the price of oil tumbling as low as the mid-$20s. But then again I recall commentary back in 1999 about oil oversupply giving rise to a halving in its then price of around $12 a barrel. That extreme view seemed to mark a low back then. I wonder if the current commentary about the mid-$20s is also set to mark present prices as a low.

Market forces seem to be too short at the moment suggesting - if only temporarily - an imminent snap back in the price of oil.
