keith95,My understanding from a month or two ago is that payment of amounts due from the first half of the year is expected sometime in the next 4-6 weeks with the remaining balances being paid as they fall due. Personally I would be surprised if they get the whole lot in the cash balances by the end of the year, but I'd expect over $40mn to have arrived by end Dec.

"Cash inflow of $52.7m expected in 2H from Daqing Oilfield Limited Company, a subsidiary of PetroChina Co. Ltd., for the subsequent payment amount on our former Mongolian asset"

From recent results, I saw note of this back in April this year - if/when it is announced I would not like to be short.

It does seem odd I would agree. Got sterling dollar at 1.22. oil comfortably back over 50 bucks. Will be strong cash flows at these levels and yet there isn't any interest in the shares.

Imo, Soco is a high risk share to hold. All of its production in one country, most of its production from one field, and no agreement on that main field regarding forward development.

The additional, commodity and currency risks, have been moving in Soco's favour recently. Some have used this strength to sell.

I hope there's no bad news but, if there is, would anyone be surprised?

Have to admit this now makes very little sense unless something untoward is going on in background. Terrible performance vs other oil shares.

Oil around $51 tonight. I guess the Russia/Syria/US politics are contributing.

Could get messy for anyone silly enough to have put on a short post the OPEC meeting.....

I would also add that you can choke control wells for many reasons-Gas management, water coning,Sand production, back out of lesser wells in the system etc.

I also have worked offshore in production/production management for many years and whilst the nirvana is dry oil on open choke,no free gas to worry about, and no system pressure choke points in reality most oil fields need control to some degree to maintain stable operation conditions, meet export spec and keep uptime as high as possible.
