There was a trade - 7500 at 95p - somebody is very keen, and probably knows more than the rest of us!

Certainly somebody is a very keen buyer - perhaps he knows that the planning permission issue is about to be resolved. If he is right then we are finally on the home run with a special dividend of maybe 200p waiting for us at the end! That assumes of course that the Bailey family are prepared to sanction the repayment to shareholders of say two thirds of the net proceeds from the Main Site sale. Heaven forbid that they think that they can reinvest it more profitably on our behalf!

Hard to believe that something isn't happening unless it is tipped somewhere as an asset play.

and that sort of development is in Malta's interests - viz the high price. If it is completed Bailey will have to pay out quite some to the patient holders.

The market in Malta is currently buoyed by a significant influx of Russian money - it is nothing like Majorca where you have both English and Germans trying to repatriate cash.
Moreover the St. Georges Bay site is in an absolutely prime position, on a slope thus giving the developers the potential to build every apartment with a view. Hence the price offered by the developers. The key point though is whether they can get planning permission, although one has to assume that they had made some tentative enquiries before they made their offer.

Spain very different from Malta...............anyway the deal is subject to planning permission - not the purchasers profit.....when that is through the dosh is payable and then the shares will ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I can only comment on my own experience in the Med at this time. I've got a share of an apartment in Majorca - eight kilomentres west of Palma, right on the sea's edge so an ideal location - and prices there have tumbled by 25-30% during the past 2/3 years; villas have been similarly affected.

Either way, have been in BLEY for so long that I've decided to see it through to the bitter end. Just hope that I'm still drawing breath by then!

Malta is considered a stable area in the Med - and it is, also an increasing
holiday favourite - + second home region. That spike is nothing to where the price will go if the deal succeeds. Just sit tight - a good gamble.

I don't agree ... the site in Malta is a great spot and I am sure the villas that they want to build would attract much interest. Someone bought 10,000 shares yesterday which caused the spike

Bearing in mind the state of the world economy as well, I doubt whether there's any great rush to start building in Malta (as a renowned holiday resort) or anywhere else for that matter. Perhaps the spike was caused by an investor actually trying to buy 10 shares .....

Perhaps planning permission on the Malta site has been granted, in which case this price is going to rise to 200p plus over the next two years.

Someone bought 20,000 of these today. Quite unusual .. I don't suppose we can dare to hope that something just be happening !!!!

If the deal is confirmed I would hope as the company will be swamped with cash and it isn't doing much with its current assets that it would return some of the shareholders interest in cash - there being no market for the shares in this family locked in company
