braham4: Harrowgate you are so right - I sold some and then bought in on the new exec appointment thinking that they would advance to some serious economic strategy with all the cash and assets they have -instead of which small minded investment nonsense (in my and your view). Again I am stuck with them - you were wise - this clean cash rich company is going just where the share price (market hahha!!) has gone to
harrogate: I had begun to think I had done the wrong thing selling straight after the sale and missing out on the special dividend and the exciting new plans with the new board but I see they are still addicted to buying a ragbag of assets in strange disparate places with no commercial plan. Shame as they have thrown away the one chance of creating real value in my view - I see also that they didn't fell they needed to tell the shareholders through the year what they were buying but saved up all the news for the results - very shoddy I think and no sign of the new baileys here - I will try to make sure I am not tempted back whatever the share price does as it could be a very long haul now with no golden goose - in fact it could be never
braham4: A few shares are sold and the tiny tick up that the rns got soon turned into a sag in the price. What would happen if several thousand were up for sale - as I can see no future in this share? It is basically a family run 'private' business that has a public quote. A poor record of profit and apart from random benefits from property site value hikes, its investments managed in a subsidiary management company in Bermuda leave something to be desired. It should distribute its cash mountain as a return of capital, and then get on with its business so that shareholders can get out without the inevitable collapse in the share price when any appreciable amount is on offer.
mesquida: True,braham4,the deal is conditional on planning permission, but the completion date was indicated as being 30th March, so it is possible that permission has already been granted. Not quite sure why you are so cynical as to whether us shareholders will see the benefit of the cash payment. After all, you could argue that we have already seen some of the benefit, with the share price having increased significantly over the past six months as a result of this property deal ! As a matter of interest what exactly are you hoping for ? A special dividend, or some sort of corporate development ? Myself I favour the second option.
harrogate: The purchaser of the rest of the site has until march 15 to get permission and complete the purchase. If they do the price goes back up and we sell ( I don't want to trust the money to the company since I am not sure they have proved they will spend it wisely ) all the rest about Mrs B & the investment returns issue you ask about is all old news and meaningless ..It all about Malta and the planning ..I suspect based on past experience the share price will tell us what is going on as we approach next year
harrogate: That may or may not be relevant since the price for Malta2 has been agreed. Our share price is dependent on 2 things 1) The planning coming through for the site 2) Them finally decided to give us some of the £25m+ they should have !!!
whilest2: and what a mirage - the share price this morning without any dealings at one time dropped 1.5%. Just think where it would go if someone sold their 4,999 shares? ugh!
whilest2: harrogate After the reorganisation the share price will be such that if you want to sell your shares (more than 5,000) the price would sag to nothing- a market depends upon sellers AND buyers. Here the assets are locked up and not realisable either by cash distribution or dividend unless the family (for they ARE) the company decide so in their interests by then with just a handfull of shareholders. If they do go private they can then pay the ancient (but venerable!) Mrs B her salary infinitum or even increase her pension etc and realise their assets whenever they want. Why don't they just buy us, the Last of the Mohicans out - full stop. Do you hear that Mr B?
harrogate: Given what they are doing I have to say I am not confident that there will be much sharing of the Malta proceeds. They said they would consider it at the time on the sale of the second half in 3 years time but the recent track record suggests to me that there will be a whole host of reasons not to give a special dividend etc and that they will have plenty of things to "invest in " .. I think the game is up ..the only question for me is do I think that over the next 3 years the share price will be higher than it is now due to hope on Malta
harrogate: They only say that about the proceeds from the sale in 2015 not the money they have received now..that is for debt repayment and working capital mention of return to shareholders now..that is why i was initially disappointed but can't argue with the share price action today
