BT receives Barclays boost

BT receives Barclays boost : Barclays likes the business’ ability to generate cash

BT PLC (LON:BT.A) shares are significantly undervalued, according to one leading City bank.
The investment arm of Barclays reckons the telco is worth 525p, which is 36% ahead of the current share price.
Reiterating its ‘overweight217; stance, Barclays pointed out BT under-performed the sector ‘materially217; last year.
It also pointed out that regulation ‘remains an overhang’. Remember, the company is involved in a stand-off with watchdog Ofcom over how its Openreach arm is governed.
Setting that aside, Barclays likes the business’s ability to generate cash.
While the roll-out of its network of fibre lines might impinge on this, BT would still have financial firepower to deliver 10-15% dividend growth over four years on a compound annual basis, according to Barclays.
At 8.30am, the shares were marking time at 385p each. That’s around £1 lower than the current consensus price target.
Of the 14 brokers logged as following BT, 8 are ‘buyers’ and only 2 have ‘sell’ recommendations on the stock. The remainder think BT is fairly valued.

FROM A REPORT
Demand for BT's broadband and television services continues to sprint higher, helping revenues at its Consumer division shoot 11% higher during July-September. And the acquisition of mobile operator EE this year significantly bolsters the firm's quad play proposition, providing its earnings outlook with further strength.

A rise to 450p in the short term, in my opinion!

Remember last 3rd quarter update, it was good then we had the run after that to 490p. So 27th January the next 3rd quarter update. Only my guess but I think will be even better. Hopefully start our run, straight back through 400p, fingers crossed boys.

Feeling rather pleased with myself this evening. Not only has BT kicked-off the year in splendid fashion, I've also been in SRSP for a couple of dull years - just check how that has performed over the last two days - and no RNS yet!! Leaky?

I had too many bullish positions for 2017 --- opened position at 377p to see if I can profit from any temporary weakness ...... just need another 10-15p move either way.

You know my thoughts 397p before 27th January. Should be superb 3rd quarters figure announced on that day, then straight through the 400p+ barrier. Thats my view.

BT the Footsie dog of 2016, down around 25%, we traded around 490p, seems incredible we are down that much on record revenue, record profits and record dividend. The reason pension and Ofcom worries. Now interest rates starting to rise US, bond rates going up, helps the pension pot and Openreach no split.
I see the dog of 2016 to be the star of 2017. 27th January to confirm onwards and upwards is my view.

I expect these up around 395p by the 27th January, 3rd quarter figures out. Then brilliant figures as it was last January to push these through the 400p barrier. That's the way I see it.
