scobak the point is defensive stocks are meant to go up slowly in a bull market and remain flat in a bear market, this stock has crashed in a bull market.

Most depressing stock on the FTSE 100, goes from £55 to £35 in a BULL MARKET, what the hell would happen in a bear market.

The relaxation of cannabis use in both Canada and the US may well have positive implications for tobacco producers in the longer term. Nevertheless, if it has, it is not showing in share prices at the moment!

unastubbs- I only have £5K in BATS. My biggest holdings are Square and Just Eat. Ciggies are good as a dividend play, the real money is made in tech. Square has tripled my money this year, I couldn't care less what you think about my posts.

Margins are higher on sticks (obviously), but nicotine is addictive, so you will be hooked either way buying your brand loyal vape or sticks.

BATS need to prove to the market that they will focus on next gen products (vape) in developed markets and sticks in EM markets.

There is a telling comment from the IMB update today regarding NGP.

If I am reading it correctly, For IMB, NGP will only start to contribute to
profitability (on assumed growth rates continuing) somewhere around 2020.

Would suspect margins on NGP are not matching conventional sticks,
all be it economies of scale play a part.

May partly explain the very significant sector de-rating, just IMV.

It is possible we are seeing a repeat of the 2013 fall but on a larger scale.

I will give you guys a tip, stop looking at the BATS stock price if you have suffered losses and dollar cost average into other undervalued stocks. If you are not in BATS, now is a very good time to buy.

I still believe emerging markets are doing well for BATS, STRONG BUY

The management should say something, or at least give some kind of guidance. Personal fear is the worst feeling for investors. The buy zone doesn't have to be £33, you'll be saying £25 is the next buy zone. It will only stop dropping once CONFIDENCE returns in the stock, if everyone stays quiet, there is no confidence. My position in BATS is not too large, around £5000, and I can deal losing the lot if I had to. The stock I feel is vastly oversold and one big turn and it could fly. Tobacco should be a part of everyone's portfolio for diversification, but not a major holding since it is so prone to regulation. STRONG BUY EITHER WAY

A 5% reduction in share price from here and we enter a possible buy zone £30-£33.50. However there is a posibility of one further leg down to £29 which would be a 50% drop from last years high. I can see the company and the market will want all the damage done before or early after the new boss takes over so perhaps April/May next year. Just in time for when the global chickens come home to roost.

Doesnt look good does it!

thanksamillion
