02/11/2018 08:51 | I checked Woodford's Income fund top ten holdings and it looks like even he has dumped BATS as a dog stock. I noticed Imperial Tobacco was in there though | creditcrunchies
01/11/2018 11:34 | Check that ;-) | philanderer
31/10/2018 19:41 | I'm not sure that this stock should be included as a defensive stock but that is how it is classified by analysts, a true defensive is one that holds value in corrections and bear markets this stock will probably collapse to 2000 or lower if there is to be one. It's become a consumer cyclical which you dump on any rise | creditcrunchies
31/10/2018 14:25 | And.........down again :-) | philanderer
30/10/2018 17:51 | Looking like a good decision CC. BATS -4% for the week , IMB unchanged | philanderer
30/10/2018 17:20 | When it hit 3650 last week I dumped half of these just to reduce exposure to the king dog of defensive stocks in a correction | creditcrunchies
30/10/2018 14:04 | And spoiling the portfolio again today :-S | philanderer

28/10/2018 01:26 | Marlboro maker to pull ecigarette pods from market - https://www.ft.com/c | unnavailable
25/10/2018 11:22 | Yep, in AAPL, SQ, V, FB, GOOGL, JE You know something is wrong when everything is down except McDonalds and the Ciggies. It's ok on my end though, since I don't trade options and just buy and hold stocks. Being in a SQ call option would be very dangerous now. Though I think the selling is done, we had strong numbers from V and MSFT, so that should help stocks rally. FTSE opened relatively flat as well. | this_time_its_different
24/10/2018 22:00 | This pesky global sell off!!. How you all placed?. Ttid, you still in the higher growth/risky type stuff?. | unnavailable

24/10/2018 13:48 | Telegraph this morning , yesterday's market report.. "...British American Tobacco led a handful of stocks higher in London after Barclays called the tobacco giant “very cheap” and investors switched into more defensive stocks. " | philanderer

23/10/2018 17:12 | Nice to see this climbing back up. | unnavailable
23/10/2018 14:39 | Move from high growth to safety, very broadly speaking. However do not views BATS as particularly safe myself. | essentialinvestor
23/10/2018 14:37 | What am I missing today? | dbensimon
23/10/2018 12:39 | Phil, nothing but a flight to safety. Gold miners, Ciggies and Utilities up, everything else in the red. BATS will be back with the dogs tomorrow no doubt. | this_time_its_different
23/10/2018 10:03 | Smokes propping my lot up today. | philanderer
22/10/2018 14:16 | Don't average down too much on one position, have a look at other stocks as well. UK domestic stocks are pretty cheap right now. Something like a Greggs is worth a look. | this_time_its_different
22/10/2018 14:15 | Andrew, I wouldn't always bet on a recovery. Have a look at the Debs share price for a comparison, I am not saying BATS is anything like Debs but it has elements of a dying industry. Though it helps their products are addictive and they can jump on the vape train. Stocks can stay depressed for many years on end, end of the day earnings drive the stock. If the stock fails to deliver on earnings, the stock price will contract to a level to reflect future earnings growth. | this_time_its_different
22/10/2018 09:55 | Philip Morris accused of hypocrisy over anti-smoking ad | philanderer |
