serratia - take a look at blowout preventer and diverter elements. These are critical safety components with rubber/elastomer seals and are regularly tested during drilling operations. A failed test requires lengthy repairs before drilling can proceed. In deep water this can take days at rig day rates of $500,000 or more. The Deepwater Horizon blowout in the Gulf of Mexico cost BP $10’s billions and a blowout preventer/diverter failure was a central, but by no means only, factor.
