Thx mikeB, have just been reviewing exeter uni concrete research paper where yr points are borne out ie good strength reported by multi and few layer graphene versus conventional concrete, but multilayer fails earlier under pressure. As in carbon fibre, the weaker van der waals bonds on multi layer 3D graphene versus few layer 2D graphene means it is liable to fail earlier under force. Of course, different applications/markets targetted therefore depending upon requirements/specifications. I agree, vrs well placed :) aimo best ellis

ellissj / dgduncan - key is around the benefit you want to achieve with your application and then the value exchange will validate the cost (low) hence why G+ and other nano graphite products have provided value here as an additive to concrete in strengthening asphalt (loads of examples in china too if you look).

Asphalt in the road would be the lower end of the spectrum ... a bridge support, tunnel lining, building elements that are underwater, building in an earthquake zone etc ... you start to care more about all strength properties rather than just improving one (compress, stretch, twist etc ... which is where the layers of nano graphite are not as strong as 2D graphene so crack) and then maybe even other functions become important e.g. level of water permeability in flood zones / port construction / bridges can dramatically increase the life of an application, thermal - do you want to dissipate heat better e.g. in long tunnels? (remember rocks are hot and its bloody hard / expensive to add in tech solutions to cool things down) and do you want to add sensors to help you understand how the application is performing? (Imagine if you had sensors that could tell you when a construction application needed repairing ... what cost savings with prevention vs cure?!)

All of this takes different qualities of 2D graphene vs nano graphite at different % loading which has different costs ... equally its about then understanding how does your product / additive support different manufacturing processes that save money / unlock new capabilities e.g. 3D printing of concrete.

There is a role for everyone who is creating 2D graphene and nano-graphite materials to play in ... i'm just a bit more excited at the opportunities I see for versarien than others.

Indeed woody/super. Maybe Asphalt too. By using this innovative polymer asphalt as an example of the current cutting edge tech, it's easy to imagine polygrene asphalt as a next step up ! Imo. Best ellis

'Modified Asphalt'

"...“Donghai” polymer modified asphalt designed and developed in a unique way is high quality and cost effective, achieving a substantial leap in terms of modified asphalt quality. The modified asphalt passed quality verification of the Ministerial level and was rated “cutting-edge technology at home and internationally advanced product performance....”

Chinese soe (state owned enterprise) opening up it seems. Excellent opportunities beckon imo. Best ellis

"...Xiao briefed Nolan on the progress of China's SOE reform and state-owned assets, adding that SASAC will pay more attention to capital management to intensify state-owned asset management, further optimize the layout of state-owned capital and improve the efficiency of its allocation to give enterprises a solid foundation for long-term development.

Central SOEs, as independent market entities, will further expand opening-up and enhance their innovation ability and vitality by cooperating with enterprises under all forms of ownership and taking part in fair market competition, Xiao stated.

He said that SASAC will deepen cooperation with China Center, improve training, foster a group of international talents with global vision and lay a solid foundation for accelerating the cultivation of world-class enterprises with global competitiveness...."

No woody

I had a good chat with someone who knows what he is talking about on the topic. Some time ago I dismissed concrete but have had a growing interest, especially since Serratia posted his findings re few layer in concrete and how multi-layer detrimentally affects the curing process and so on

The first thoughts are dismissive because we think of concrete for general use instead of it as a fix in industry for various specific uses. At which point it becomes mind boggling.

So yes I have concrete firmly on my list now as very viable.

Re the ups and downs.

There are many types on AVDFN but a good deal of the that think 5 bagger and 10 bagger. So those with £5k our £10k think of a quick fix to get to £50k or £100k.

Hence that lure/gamble is an attraction. However it is the case that the vast majority of investors lose money by chasing the long odds outsiders in a horse race. As in horse racing the smart money is on the favourites. Typically small punters won't bet on a favourite as the odds are too short.

So you have host of punters chasing the long odds which in the investment world they don't see as long odds in terms of winning. Some fail to realise that in racing you can actually see a horse running around the track and it's form has been out there for all to see in previous races.

Some Aim companies have no horse, it's just a ruse to get punters betting. They will tell you they have a horse and that it's the best in the world, but it might be tucked in some forest in Brazil, in the depths of Nigeria, the Australian outback and so on. So far tucked way the only bits you get to see of the horse is the news a company chooses to put out.

Hence lured by the big gains many fall for the cons over and over again. The pump and dump crooks prey on that weakness.

So yes many will jump around from share to share but most of them will fall, some very badly to the point they can invest no more.

Ok confession time old Spid and WG (yes we are still an item) have been buying up VRS
Whenever we can.
We have seen the light.
So the days of talking down VRS is now over and I offer you all a hand of friendship.
WG is currently taking a shower but I am sure that he will do the same when he's washed off all that snake oil.
If anybody attempts to use my name to try and devalue the shares just be aware that they will be an fake poster.
