There's a lot of talk about the uptake of EV's and hybrid EV's. The European market is expected to have been 410k cars in 2018 split 50:50 between hybrids and pure EV's. This is just over 2% of new car sales. The main uptake of hybrid cars (70%) is via company car users. This is driven by tax reasons. The benefit in kind for a hybrid car emitting 50 gm/km CO2 is 9% compared with 22% for a diesel car at 100 gm/km. The company also makes tax savings.

According to a BBC article some months back many company car hybrids come back to the market with the charging cables still unwrapped.

ZAP & GO - A Fab vision for refuelling cars using green off peak electricity at existing petrol stations

The giant underground storage capacitors (replacing existing petrol/diesel tanks)- rechargeable by mains line or mobile lorry mounted chargers (transference capacitors) are an excellent way to use and store intermittently produced electricity from off peak wind power etc - without putting excessive strain on the National grid

Their website is one of the finest examples of its type I have seen re clarity & vision regarding charging EVs - They seem to have cracked the charge time dilemma - But some way off re actual electrival storage capacity for the New cells - Will they get there? - I`m not sure, still a mountain to climb I reckon - Hopefully graphene can help make it happen

That's why we are looking for a hybrid at the moment. As you say EV (mainly the infrastructure) isn't there yet and will need a lot of cash pumped in.

ICE v EV - saw a first for me yesterday. Stopped at M1 services to eat my sandwiches and watched cars queuing for the EV charging points. Ate my sandwiches and drove off, some of the same still queuing.. EV ain't there yet but opportunities for someone - just saying..

Hi all, over in Leeds sorting out my Mum's care situation, I'm typing on my mobile so apologies for any mistakes or typos that I might inadvertently make.Scrutable, whilst I appreciate the general gist of your post, I just need to point out that you have labelled me impatient, simply for attempting to do a day trade which would have allowed me to increase my VRS shareholding. Not sure how that is compatible with your accusations.Ungulate, (Dean Haigh), I see my pet troll was having yet another sleepless night and obsessing about me yet again. He really does need some mental health care. Oh, and please keep sending me PM's too. I take great pleasure in deleting them unopened, ensuring that your efforts and time are completely wasted. Sad really, because you do need professional help.

Excellent . In line with. Clarkson summery. Nextgen storage is key. Also charging time!Range worry is obviated in a petrol car cos it refuels so quickly I do think charging time is the overlooked factor in EV roll out.I live in a typical LONDON Terrace which has zone parking. I really really think the Zap n Go video showing recharging at a station taking over from refuelling at a station is bang on .Viva Vestaria

Test drove an IPace (all electric) Jag recently. Great car, terrible battery life. It had 185 mile capacity when I got in. Did 60 miles and it had 84 mile capacity. I couldn't make a 44 mile journey as I wasn't sure I could get back.

Electric cars will be the future. When they've got decent batteries, and a decent charging infrastructure. When I said this to the sales lady, she said graphene batteries were being developed, and that in two years both should be sorted. I didn't declare an interest!

Superb drive, and i'd buy one now, except I couldn't do more than mooch around town, and couldn't possibly go more than 50 miles.

in summary, the world is changing (as Tony Seba predicts), and whoever wins the race to develop better batteries for EV's will be a happy, and rich, bunny.

sandbag....I don't expect the funds to do as well as VRS but there is less chance of losing huge amounts than in a single stock so one does have to be a little judicious. I do mainly have special situation funds like Fidelity Global, Fidelity China and Henderson Global Technology all of which were up well over 100% over the last 5 years until (politics alert) Trump started screwing everything up.

MikeB: I don’t doubt that the Ph.2 Faraday Challenge projects on “fundamental research at scale that will "move the dial" of knowledge and understanding in addressing the specific issues” will be worthwhile and likely bring useful, perhaps revolutionary results. But if that requirement indicates what is currently needed to make any significant gains in practical batteries from the near term knowledge of, e.g. Gnanomat, I confess to some disappointment.

I’m not suggesting that Gnano should not be involved in some way, but I hope that whatever that may be, it does not detract from bringing commercial benefits from their existing IP in a nearer term than say 4 years plus 2 (optimistically) to commercialise whatever new knowledge may result from the Faraday work.

Also Gnano’s existing IP is, I hope, too valuable to throw into a consortium. (I have had some relevant experience.)

Care here is needed. Neill will consider matters carefully, I don’t doubt.

That's one way of putting it rocket fuel but some need a little support and some are just happy being miserable, it's the way of the world.

ISO bound to be printed in the near term, keep your eye on it!
