Couldn't agree with you more. If the IP cannot be protected, walk away and deal with the other countries who will respect the IP. We have to show the Chinese we're not mugs, and I don't believe VRS/DIT are! As others have said, I have huge faith in Neill and the team.

Another solid piece of news this morning. The building blocks for a world class business continue to be put in place. It will concentrate the minds of other potential customers to get on with doing the deals with VRS rather than slowly doing things at their own pace. I am very content with the progress so far this year and I fully expect to hear of commercial deals next year. Some on this board have clearly not grasped what it takes to bring cutting edge technology to the consumer. They think in days, weeks and maybe a few months. They really should get an education. If they do not like the speed at which Versarien are moving at then may I suggest that they invest in other AIM companies like oil exploration or even mineral exploration. Big holes in the ground and in most cases nothing in them except the earth which they dig or drill down. Neill and his team are doing great work.

It's 128.66p to sell, so obviously sells are being reported, albeit wrongly by ADVFN, and because the bid is rising, it's equally obvious that buying is being hidden from us.

V well said bisho4. No gung ho stuff re China, just good business acumen, pursuing one of many potential deals. Wouldn't it be great to announce that one of the other collabs is moving to a trading relationship, perhaps before the China one, I think that is entirely possible and then the others would sit up and take notice. But these things do take time. Nothing presently to put me off at all.

bisho - but the Chinese *will* steal the IP, it's only a question of how long it takes. The best defence VRS has is to keep the shiny new toys (ie c.2000 2D materials) rolling out of the research labs, to maintain leverage and keep them honest.

I'll continue to hold, thanks. As I've said before, another 3 or 6 months of this and I'm convinced the predators will start circling. The clock is very much ticking on NR, IMO.

loglorry - Nobody is surprised at you picking holes in today's announcement, and rubbishing it in every way that you can think of. It is expected of you. But having identified graphene companies that you regard as equal-or-better, can you tell us how they are getting on in China please? What does the latest update they have each produced tell us about their progress in China? How much further advanced are they than Versarien, in China?

Delivery of the 3T machine wasn't brought forward from December, the machine was just ready earlier. I imagine the estimated time-frame for delivery was November-December, so to be safe, NR said December, but it turned out it was ready earlier. I wouldn't read any more into it than that.

With regards to IP theft, if it happens, then it's not just a case of VRS saying "oh well, at least we've got the rest of the world", because the Chinese would then undercut VRS to sell it worldwide. This is the most important part of the deal, and would form the basis of how they structure deals with the rest of the world. They MUST take the time to get this right, or Neill's own company will suffer in years to come. As a resolute LTH, I would rather no deal with China if there is sufficient risk that the IP will be compromised.

I trust the great VRS team to do everything they reasonably can to protect their IP, and to make the best deal they can. But that takes time. This RNS is a great example of the progress they are making, while not rushing into any deal they might regret in the near term. It's simple, either you trust the team and their vision, or you don't. Buy in or get out.

clint - filter away, I'm just about to add you.

not shorting it, not trading it, just wondering if NR is anything more than endless talk and is ever going to deliver an actual (significant) contract with actual money attached.

Spike. Club is either shorting it/trading or a bloody idiot.
Going to have to filter because there is nothing to be gained from reading any of his posts.
Anyway,I reckon a low to mid 130's finish today and then continued climb from here as news spreads/is added to.

Further to lucky's post, 19:30 in to the speech is the bit about IP theft for those who don't have time to listen to the whole thing:

Club,

VRS can increase capacity beyond 3T immediately if an order comes in.

I mentioned this at the end of last week.

Good point Alchemy

"Qingdao slightly bigger than London."

Even Festario was positive about it, that must be a first!

Just one city with several of a similar size in China.

Looking at the bigger picture it seems that China had too many eggs in one basket with the US and with the trade sanctions it looks like they are doing the sensible thing and spreading the load by engaging with other countries

CHINA ECONOMY
China's Xi again talks up commitment to 'free trade'
China is this week promoting itself to the world as a major buyer of goods with the China International Import Expo.
Xi said the expo "demonstrates China's consistent position of supporting the multilateral trading system and promoting free trade. It is a concrete action taken by China to advance an open world economy and support economic globalization."

The Chinese leader said his country will seek to stimulate the potential for increased imports and will further lower import tariffs. He also pledged that China will speed up the opening of its education, telecommunications and cultural sectors. As it now stands, Asia's largest economy maintains extensive barriers for foreign firms looking to conduct business in those areas.

The speech also briefly addressed the issue of intellectual property theft, which has been a chief complaint foreign firms have had about China. Xi pledged to "enhance" the punishments for such actions to "significantly raise the cost for offenders."

Spike - I'm not negative, I'm just tired of waiting to see facts rather than endless speculation, hints, nods and winks.

"VRS have clearly stated that they intend to enter into a 2 year exclusive deal with the machine manufacturer"

'intend to'. have they done it yet?

"Obviously this 2 year 'deal' will not happen until we sign a sales contract that requires large quantities of Nanene on a regular basis."

I'd hope they'd sign it *before* - indeed, were I a potential client I'd want to see that agreement in place before signing with VRS, so I could be sure of supply once the agreement was signed...

[edit] indeed, the announcement of the signing of the 2-year license would be the strongest possible indication that a major deal was about to drop. Doesn't *that* make sense?

Ian I'm sure VRS would have thought of the price hike problem when they agreed the deal to have exclusive rights to the "machines" for the next two years..

I'm looking at the VRS patent that underpins Nanene today in some detail today. I'll let you know if anything jumps out.

You might want to start with this one (WO2016063036):

The correspondence regarding WO2016063036 can be found at the link below:

Looking at the international search report, it looks like they decided they wouldn't get any meaningful claims, so they decided to abandon the patent application in Europe (and probably elsewhere).

It is not a good tactic to file speculative applications unless you have done a thorough background search (which apparently they did not do in this case)

This abandoned application now gives the Chinese and Indians all the details they need to know to enable them to copy and improve Versarien's process (with impunity)

Club - how can you be so negative and still invest?

VRS have clearly stated that they intend to enter into a 2 year exclusive deal with the machine manufacturer, and much more importantly, it will signify the launch of a 'production line' to produce the machines much more quickly and in greater quantities.

Obviously this 2 year 'deal' will not happen until we sign a sales contract that requires large quantities of Nanene on a regular basis.

Best wishes - Spike

Matt is straight as a die like the rest of the team, I do like his wish to tell all and he can't until it's all tied up.

"I’m struggling to hide the excitement myself too"

If he is being reserved with that statement then it is going to be something very very good and got a feeling that it won't be long until we know the next move.
