On NGA,

An increasing trend to reduce the overall weight of products in multiple industries such as aerospace, renewables, construction and transportation, is driving tremendous growth in the lightweight structures market.

According to the UK Department for International Trade, it is projected that the global opportunity in lightweight structures, just for transport applications, will reach £138bn by 2021.

In the last few years, the region of Greater Manchester has developed a specialist niche in this area, specifically tapping into opportunities in light alloys, technical textiles, coatings and graphene.

I have sonny. Imo it's irrational for neill to be worried by graphene oxide competition, because vrs produce it themselves, to a high standard. Therefore, you have your answer. Best ellis

Not forgetting our cornerstone investor.
SG, do you think that Herald or Miton. Pick any up t the PB fund raise?

That inflection point.

After a bit of digging I suspect the supply we have come to know over the months won't be around much longer.

Don't forget Miton were on near 15 mill in the run up to their redemption issue in the Spring .

The last update there re Miton was in April of 7.2 mill across 2 funds post the redemption issue sell off.

In Feb Herald had about 4.4 mill left.

11.6 mill between them.

It's a lot less now and there are some 'hidden' material buyers out there :-)

VRS do Nanene it's become the lead part, they also do the other graphenes, CVD, reduced graphene oxide and graphene.

GO is nasty process using harsh chemicals it damages the platelets and has typical priories of 60-70%.

GO is the graphene used in tests for the water membranes the UOM did.

There are a myriad of uses for the various graphenes.

Spin back to Peter at the AGM. Mobbed by the Chinese on his visits and they flew in from all over and told him how poor the graphene was in China.

I think 1 person claimed neill was 'worried' by graphene oxide competition at the agm, but no one else saw it that way by the sounds of it. Best ellis

It sounds like some people are getting ahead of themselves this evening, relax, it looks extremely likely that we will hear some sort of news before Christmas I’m sure NR and CO are well aware of the competition and will want to get a deal signed off ASAP as long as they can negotiate the right terms, don’t forget the scope of the 2d materials that are being worked on and the specialist staff unis etc VRS have at their disposal, Do you not think any potential client would not want in on that action?

Also if you're worried, then go next week to that eventribe london event where NR and someone else will be there and put that question infront of him.

All good chat but their focus is on air pollution hence EV focus ... other forms will take time

"After years of heavy industrialization, China’s environmental challenges are nearing a tipping point.

The factories and power plants that have driven its economic growth have also polluted its air, water and soil, to the point where environmental hazards could lead to a significant risk to China’s society and economy, if not corrected in a timely manner. In a bid to tackle these challenges, China’s government has declared a “war on pollution” and introduced a number of green initiatives."

Don't kid yourself - they really care about air pollution ... much less chemical pollution

"China doesn’t care much for environmental issues" , they didn't Mike, but they do now, particularly areas like Jinan.

China doesn't care much for environmental issues hence why they will knock out lots of Graphene oxide where you tend to get a lot of dangerous chemicals as waste hence will create a low cost product that can work in a number of application areas well (price will make it competitive) ... again without the flywheel to help folks get up and running and the support this will not impact today but more in future hence strong desire to focus on. Raiding and royalties

VRS global USP today with Nanene is the strength benefits they bring alongside other application benefits hence you can see collabs and elastomer, polymer and composite areas they have picked ... obv batteries to come

I asked the question at the AGM about competition; as I have mentioned earlier, it was all a bit rushed since Neill made as if to block a second question from me (or anyone). I had been partly reassured by Spike that MIT CVD on a roll would not compete with Nanene, for dispersion in polymers etc, nevertheless I cited that product to Neil which he quickly dismissed as of any consequence but did refer to Chinese graphene oxide as potential competition but didn’t specify a particular relevant corner of the market. Might be worth tweeting about to clarify but doubt he would elucidate by that medium.

Main risk is complexity in production proceeds due to changes (see serratia post) and then VRS ability to deliver volume and pricing that works (again covered at length around how they qualify upfront and prove capability). In future years once folks know what you are doing and we have ISO then you can compare apples with apples but as we have seen with the Gnanomat acquisition VRS are building IP up each value chain which just widens the moat further
