Verger, regarding Brexit politics I would think that world leadership in advanced materials at the cusp of application would be an excellent lever on the EU to negotiate trade deals

I sympathise with you and your travelling. I had 47 years of it, the worst being when I worked on the construction of Sizewell Power Station in Suffolk. I live in north Lancs. Because of roadworks on the A14 and the widening of the M6 at Preston the journey could take up to 8 hours normally and occasionally up to 11 hours on a Sunday. Therefore I travelled overnight and went straight into a 10 hour shift. I did this every week for two and a half years apart from holidays. Annoyingly the pay wasn't very good but there was no other work about at that time. When the job finished I got a part time teaching job 30 miles from home and with family credits I was actually better off.
Anyway, that's water under the bridge. Despite many ups and downs I'm now making far more money than I ever did working. I wish you and other holders the same luck.

If you're going to the Somerset the evening before as I am, beware, taxis don't(or at least didn't) run very late in Cheltenham. Make sure you book one.

I understand that 182 /186 was the price when it went in to auction but surely the fact that we had 4 trades in the auction having to pay 187 to buy suggests that the close was at worst 187/182 so mid 184.5 = down 2.5?

Sorry, not nitpicking , just trying to understand how it works.

bootie - not sure what Neil doing in Cardiff - speculation is that he was meeting Welsh Govt Reps - If so their remit covers all of Wales re jobs & bringing in New industries etc - Some persistent unemployment black spots in Wales I believe - Likely big grants available to try & turn that around - No time to google re Unilever plants in Wales (If any) - Heading off to the Sun for a weeks R&R....

This is to induce selling, as it was clear from today there are more buyers than sellers.

If it was me, I wouldn't fall for it.

Edit: yup me and twin bruv' will be at the buffet after. As I understand it, it is in an adjacent room, but without the regulation name tag, you won't be able to freeload (as if), given the choice I would most definitely make an exception for rainbow. But seriously, unless you book (by Wed I understand), you won't have the opportunity, as grub is tailored to numbers booked.

Given the minimal cost, it may well be worth booking regardless, to have the option available on the day.

Just a thought: would the government prefer to delay any China deal news until after a brexit deal so that they can say ‘Look at what is possible now ‘? In other words, it’s politics on our side that is delaying an announcement?
