Club Sandwich you really need to calm down on your political opinions. There is a time and a place for it but not on here and not on Matt Walker’s Twitter. No one cares about your opinions, you need to reign in your ego and realise this. We are all just fleshy lumps and our life experiences, conditioning and genetics decide our opinions. No one knows all the answers in this world so why act like you do?

The monsoon climate of Cinderford is perfect for the web footed inhabitants - just don't mention the bear if you ever end up in the forest. Bad things will happen.

Think a cross between Leatherface from the Texas Chain Saw Massacre and the Wurzels.

Interesting that 'the competition' gets in touch when they announce a collaboration and that they are very 'selective' who they collaborate with.

So who is the US competition?

Interesting also that joining the campaign gives them closer ties and greater access with UKgov, he will be standing as MP for Cinderford next 😉

Joey

I see someone picked up on the accreditation bit. That woke me up and I replayed it to make sure.

Odd that staff would be working on weekend on something like that unless it was urgent imo.

If that's the watch with bit it goes like this. I'll leave out some names.

North Thin ply and the company that worked on the carbon fibre part of the watch. As I understand it a certain very well known Mclaren guy attended the UOM to sort some real graphene.

Apparently they had tried some 'graphene' sold to them by a certain company across the pond which didn't work and now they needed some sharpish that did work.

The natural place to go was the UOM. Good old VRS was the answer as trials had just been completed by the UOM on carbon fibre using Nanane. Robert Young of the UOM was excited about the results.

That led onto the supply of Nanene to NPTP for the Mclaren watch. However by my calcs no more the about .1 of a gram was used for each watch and they were only doing 75 watches. So of the 937k Euro cost for each watch about £10 was Nanene.

There as to be a replica of a Mclaren provided with each watch.

I have no idea what they did with the over 900 grams that would have been left.

Robert Young who tested Nanene appeared at the Mclaren launch for their car talking about the watch.

Mclaren rave about the gains on the carbon fibre having used the graphene for the watch. It's on their website.

Also a quick "lol" at the other "graphene" companies who Neil refers to as "selling a little bit of graphene". VRS ambitions are much much higher.

Pshevlin - seems like we're on the same wavelength. Do you have my email? If not DM me on Twitter, and if you want we can carry on the Brexit discussion off the B.B...

from spike post earlier

Oh - forgot to mention the good news:

the graphene came from VERSARIEN - it is part of the £>100k order at the end of 2016!

No doubt sg can give you all the gory details;0)

Anyone agree that Neil sounds calm in a simmering coal kind of way? He's completely confident, not excited just confident and seemingly certain.

maisto, I believe (could be wrong) that the list was just those from the midlands who had joined / just joined.

Aston Martin are quite large. Isn't the exporting is great thing for smaller companies who may not be confident?

apologies if discussed before but I have a question re today's announcement.

did anyone manage to find an updated list of other "Export Champions"? I found a year-old article where quite a few small companies from the Midlands are branded Export Champions (see link below). But Aston Martin and the likes are nowhere to be seen so I'm clearly missing something.

I kinda wanted a dip to top up but it’s not forthcoming so out of respect for the superb, hardworking team at VRS here is a rampy post...

Encouraging sound bites from the podcast imo:

“Starting to lead the charge” (VRS - market leaders)
“Busier now than ever been” (constant news flow to come)
“(Gov) want us to be a champion” (confirms full and selective backing)
“..when you buy your sports goods or your ...er... er other products...” (He’s hesitation suggests NDAs restricting him dropping something big here for me)
“Longer term strategy than just going out and selling a bit of graphene” (nice dig at competitors and realising the need to foster a brand)
“All of competition sees news story and want to be involved” (everyone wants a bit of nanene)

Sorry to join the Neill Ricketts appreciation society but I just couldn’t help myself. The guy is a legend and supported by a fantastic team. Go VRS!
