Dacian yes largest holding - contributing to a 65% portfolio performance this year. Unsustainable but fun whilst this bull market lasts.

I can't see including income as doable, j.

On the whole I think I favour the five most recent purchases as a measure of one's current thinking.

Yes I think it's a different animal now. Digital content driving need for their services and that market is only going to grow. We shall see though.

APAD - I think the global opportunity referred to in their presentation has helped.

Can't keep up with FDEV and ZOO - phenomenal performance and plenty to come I believe. ZOO demonstrates that it really is worthwhile scouring the nanocaps to try find some jewels. I tend to have a couple in the portfolio.

Indeed Dave, one of the greats.

TSTL is massively solid. Probably on piecemeal approval in the US.

Only thing with 5 largest holding is one might need to take income/dividends into accounts- which would presumably add another level of complexity to the whole thing?

Also, management is keen on selecting new sites with high return potential. They target ROCE above 20%As with retailing, its float increases with more sites which is used to buy more stations from individual owners in fragmented market. Once it is acquired, they would re-brand it, improve the food/retail mix and enhance its profits The business have grown roughly at 20% CAGR.It is cyclical in nature. In recession there will be less cars hence less profits but should do fine over long term. Don't see electric cars much of a risk as they should be able to convert their stations. Competitions & recession are risks to consider imv. I like the forecourt business. Two founders of Eurogarages became self made billionaires in just two decades.

Bought initial stake in Applegreen Irish forecourt retailer with good food margins, growth rate and market opportunity due to big oilers abandoning downstream petrol pump business. Owner operated with founder still at the helm. Will look to increase over time.

Tracsis issuing shares again.
They really did change the nature of the company when they kicked the founder out.
Acquired much lower margin companies.
It could have remained a little, cash cow, jewel with minimal costs, rather than falling into the hands of managers.
The combination of data collection and data processing was superb.
When it was young it was a bit like BVXP, but in an entirely different sector.
At least I saw that the story had changed and got out.

Fozzie is still in the lead because of UKOG. I think we should only allow the five largest holdings next year as there are no lessons from a penny share success. Not that I begrudge fozzie as he owns the company, rather than most competitions that are won by long odds bets.

Jesu's eyebrows it's hot here!

Yes H, I've been watching ZOO for some months, but not been able to get the capital and the confidence together at the same time. Now it's surged several times to put on more than 30% in a month and I will probably carry on waiting to see if it comes back first. I try not to panic when I feeling I'm missing a boat, but I do wish for a crystal ball sometimes.

Getting a bit concerned about Jarvis Securities Plc, JIM, on Mrs P's a/c. Sp today 455/465, down from a peak close a few weeks back of 530p. A divi of 6.5p/sh due to be paid on 7 Sept, but it still leaves it well down. Mrs P bt at AvC 336p so we are still playing with the mkts money, not our capital, but no-one likes to see it dribbling away. JIM is generally pretty strong and stable and will hopefully come back in time but there have been some rumblings concerning their progress if bank rates start to change. Not sure whether to stick or twist at this level.

A few reminders for Tiddler Watchers and Speculators:

A lot of speculative buying on Cap-XX Ltd, CPX, this morning; mainly PI's judging by the buy sizes.

EG Solutions, EGS, again trying for a breakout, but on practically no volume.

IQE Plc taking a bit of a breather - Interims due on 5Sept.

Proactis Holdings Plc, PHD, nicely balanced on the very impressive and stable rising lower support trend line for anyone considering getting in.

SDX Energy Inc, SDX, still trading sideways while waiting for new exploration news.

Pretty much the same for XLMedia Plc, XLM, waiting for 11Sept Interims.

TRI trading sideways seems to have found a strong base around 215p; bounce soon?

I've looked thro' a lot of charts this morning and all seem to be largely marking time. I suppose it's because it's deep summer and August. Summer! It's drizzling again here in SW Wales.

Homebrew I did that with TSTL - think the main thing is leaving ego at door and buying back if you've made an error as tricky as that is! APAD totally agree about cashflow

Also, Tesco selling property and renting it back to massage profits fooled no end of professionals with more accounting experience than I'll ever have. And that a completely straightforward business.

One of the examples that has taught me to go straight to cash flow and short term assets and liabilities.

Well done on FDEV.

Hydrus, not as bad as my mistake of buying FDEV at the start of the year (it's one of my competition entries) selling out for something 'better'/boredom and then only recently buying back in!
