25/4/2007 13:20 | John In a word... yes... I believe so. See below: Universe Group PLC, ("Universe" or "the Company"), the retail and loyalty systems company, is pleased to announce that at the Company's Extraordinary General Meeting, held earlier today, all of the resolutions, which relate to the proposed placing of 42,857,143 new ordinary shares at 7.0p per share to raise #3.0 million before expenses (the "Placing"), were duly passed. The new ordinary shares are expected to be admitted to trading on AIM with effect from 8.00 am on 23 April 2007. | danski

25/4/2007 13:12 | And here is the update from last month again. I think the last three paragraphs are worth redigesting in particular... AIM-quoted Universe Group PLC swung to a full-year pretax loss held back by its HTEC unit, but said it is undertaking a major financial restructuring including raising 3.0 mln stg in a share placing and agreeing a new 1.5 mln stg bank facility. The retail and information systems firm reported a full-year pretax loss of 3.51 mln stg compared with a profit of 980,000 stg in 2005, as revenues dropped to 11.35 mln stg from 15.67 mln stg. The company placed 42.86 mln shares at 7 pence each with institutional and other investors and said the funds will be used to reduce and restructure its current debt facilities and provide working capital. It has also agreed to a new arrangement with Bank of Scotland including a 100,000 stg overdraft facility and a rescheduled term loan of 1.4 mln stg, Universe Group said in a statement. On HTEC, the company said cash restraints have undoubtedly held it back but it is confident that its operating subsidiary will resume momentum in 2007, adding that the unit has already won a significant contract to supply software and services to petrol retailing outlets from a major oil company. Commenting on expressions of interest received from a number of third parties relating to a potential acquisition of the company, or the business of of HTEC, Universe Group said it will not pursue any discussions as it believes that "future prospects are encouraging and that value can best be delivered as an independent business". On 2007, chairman John Scholes said the company has put into place a "sound" basis from which to build the business anew giving it optimism for the current year. | danski
25/4/2007 13:11 | to refresh your memories, just 5 days ago the company said its "short-term business environment is favourable" Not exactly earthshattering, but equally you would not go out of your way to say that if you were expecting something unpleasant around the corner that was likely to reduce the value of your company by 15% or more! | danski
25/4/2007 13:03 | for those who believe in the significance of such indicators, it has been looking pretty oversold on the RSI... below 30... | danski

25/4/2007 12:42 | i'm sure he doesn't need me to request it. he is normally pretty proactive... ducati - indeed. the company stated, when its share price was higher than this - that it had had several approaches for the company but rebuffed them due to the company's poor share price performance. but soon they may find that their hand is forced... | danski
