tsmith, bid is 6.5 but ime sure my broker could improve on that. Intend to sit on these, at these prices a hostile bid is possible

feel free to put in a plug for your broker here! you could always ask them for a commission on new business...

if they can knock 8% off the quoted price on other stocks, i'd sign up yesterday

bloody hell, i'll say. tdw baulked at my efforts to get any quantity on a fill or kill at 6.945. had to settle for 7p.

i expect we will see buyers return in numbers at these levels, given that we are now back to the recent discounted placing prices... (suspect that is what continues to pull the share price back to be honest)

tw is indeed covering this stock, so i would imagine we will get an update shortly commenting on the recent movement. given that he tipped it at over 10p and then more recently, as i understand it, stated it to be his pick for 2007 (at master investor), he will doubtless feel moved to rejustify his stance.

market cap is actually now closer to 5 million at this level is it not?

i have just doubled my holding. 28259 buy is mine.

read the recent newsflow. it remains pretty bullish as far as i can see.

The PR company that they pay for doing nothing should do something, and I also think if nothing is wrong a statement would steady the ship somewhat.

TW - covering the stock?

Howdlep - If you subscribe surely its worthwhile getting him to add his thoughts as to why the shares have so badly underperformed.

15k and 10k trades are both buys.

So with a 5m cap and 2008 profits expected at around £2m, UNG is now being valued at around 2.5x 2008 earning. As TW says, hardly demanding.

Also it is nice to be in below the 7p fundraising.

N.B. I presume advfn financials have included the new shares in the 5m cap?

Universe Group
Posted by: The Insider, in Market whispers
Charles Stanley initiates coverage with a buy and 12p a share price target.
The broker says: 'The recent placing provides Universe Group with the platform for sustainable growth going forward. It follows the restructuring that took place in 2006 which resulted in the appointment of new management and a re-focus on HTEC, the group's managed services and payment solutions provider.
'With established relationships with the likes of Total, Chevron, Morrisons and Asda, and the recent global software win with a major oil company, HTEC is well placed.'

It's anotherr strange one. This stock has been falling for longer then I can remember. It's really quite sad as at the heart of it they have a really good business model, eppecially now that they've got rid of the money exchange business and raised capital. I suspect it could also be a bumpy May for the share price too. I have a small holding in UNG but am seriously considering taking out a long trade on this one if it falls any lower and if Cantor index allow me too. On fundematial this stock seems v. cheap indeed.

anyone see a reason for today's drop. assuming that business is doing well, as they indicated recently, and a return to profit is on the cards, this must now start to look like a bit of a bargain, surely... any thoughts?

bobby - an example. bank staff who try to flog you PPI with loans. Very objectionable. They are on a big bonus to sell it and therefore have no qualms about mis-selling. I speak as a victim.

Why do you find that objectional?
If the product has benefits that can enhance the receipiants present circumstances, or enhance his profitability/productivity etc, the remuneration of the seller is of no consequence to the buyer.
Yes, the cost of the product is important, but if the advantages are accurately demonstated then there is no issue, especially if you have portfolio of blue-chips clients that are buyers. That latter point should not be under-estimated.

I may not be a typical type of customer, but before I am ready to sign up with a different supplier I first need to be dissatisfied (price, facilities, service, whatever) with my existing one. Then I need to be convinced that the alternative will not be even worse!
Finally, it depends what you mean by "incetivised". I strongly suspect that the salesmen I find most objectionable are those with the highest up-front incentivisation!
I think that rather tends to put me in the uniohall camp.
