Valaris EXL II jack-up rig drilled the Carapa-1 well to a Total Depth of 3,290 metres in 68 metres of water and the well will now be plugged and abandoned.

Excellent result... :-)
Could have been better in net play depth, but still a great result...
In numerous ways..

1: The gamblers here do not understand the importance of API27 Oil being found and extending into our area with a sulfur content less than 1%.
2: The derisking and improved potential in the Kanuku and adjacent Orinduik licences makes this a hotbed for interest.
3: Hopefully all the gamblers will now disapear onto their next pump and dump with their single line graphs and predictions "After the event".. It will be a shame to lose all these "Oil Exploration Experts" but I am certain we will survive.. :-)

10 API and 5% Sulphur kills peoples fantasy.....thats why Jethro/Joe details have not been released.

This will be the end of Guyana for TLW - they for sure imo will not do anymore exploration wildcats in 2020 - most likely will try to offload the license area to someone - failing that, just relinquish it.

Wait and see.

Seismic was out as were planning to drill down to c.3600m but stopped at 3290m.

On another topic,

"Rig site testing has indicated that the oil is 27 degrees API with a sulphur content of less than 1%. A detailed laboratory analysis of the oil quality will follow in due course."

One wonders why T did not know approx values for same on Jethro/Joe discoveries!

Also might focus their minds to sort out the valuable stuff they already have!

The problem with that ss is low resource density. What you would really prefer is a thick net pay, where one well intersects let's say 35m to 100m of oil, and the reservoir/oil characteristics result in a 10K to 20K producing well = less wells/cost to produce a given resource. If the same resource is spread over a wide area and with only 4m NP then you would require many more wells to produce the same amount, resulting in a non-commercial 'technical' discovery.

Takes the words - poor reservoir development and the final words which say decide any future work program and dont commit to drilling program just say decide on future work.

TLW I think will not drill in 2020 in Guyana, they could have committed today but have instead fudged it and not committed anything.

More important things for TLW to do that wildcat drilling in Guyana.

MMS will no doubt drop the price but success wasnt priced in imo CASP RNS today was more positive for those interested in an oil EP company with Zero debt and huge potential
