Africa-focused exploration and production group Tullow Oil was the talk of the town as its shares raced away to touch 1,405p before closing 31p higher at 1,396p.

In demand recently after confirming another oil find in Kenya, buyers piled in on Thursday amid revived takeover speculation.

With many dealers convinced that a multi-billion pound Footsie bid will give the market a big lift before Christmas, Tullow joined the City’s growing list of possible targets.

Indeed whites. I wondered yesterday how the remaining board management would react to the vertiginous drop. It seems they're not very dynamic just at the moment. Maybe more pre-occupied with fighting over the corner office.

Are you saying that rumours about the creation of an actual rumour are a thing now? Sort of like a derivative rumour, not the actual underlying rumour?

There is a rumour that the old rumour isn't as good as the new rumour so that rumour isn't the rumour that is rumoured to be the real deal.

:-) :-) BRILLIANT....... :-) :-)
These are the only two rumours I believe have any traction or credibility...

As an aside, I am a little (Very slightly) surprised there was no holding RNS's this morning. > 10% stock traded... means circa > 90% stock held tightly...
The 10% traded would have likely been through the mill with numerous new owners.. :-)

There is a rumour that the old rumour isn't as good as the new rumour so that runout isn't the rumour that is rumoured to be the real deal.

If we're guessing, here's mine: price will rise until it hits the 12sMA on the 1 hour chart (currently that is 59p, but is dropping all the time). At that point it will fall back and continue to form a bottom (that could be below yesterdays low). I am trading it upon this assumption. I am most certainly not hoping for 100p by tea time on friday. So briefly I call 59 as the highest possible price today, but don't think it will achieve that.

They are probably already in talks of a take-over they know they have to act fast after recent falls if they want it cheap.

In Kenya, Tullow estimates that the South Lokichar basin contains a recoverable resource range of 240 – 560 – 1,230 mmbo (1C–2C–3C). Tullow owns a tad more than 50%.

My guess is £1 by Friday. A 30% drop from 140ish due to the bad news seems a lot more reasonable. Then, I imagine people will reflect over the weekend and consider that the debt position in this low-interest world is not so drastic, and perhaps we'll see a slow return to 120p.
