Think the only thing that is holding this back is the city wants confirmation of that at the interims - personally it looks locked on to me.

At the current PGM and Chrome prices, my quick and dirty calc suggests Tharisa are making around $10m gross profit EVERY SINGLE WEEK

This is like a fruit machine that is stuck on pay out or hitting the jackpot on every spin, on a chrome basis it is negative cost of a couple hundre dollars per tonne thanks to the by products from rhodium, palladium, iridium and platinum

As well as rhodium having gone up like a rocket, iridium has also trebled this year to around $5,500/oz

Jost some sprinkles on the rhodium coved cake :)

Iridium is 4.3% of the 6e prill for tharisa

Ruthenium has only risen from $250 to $375/oz

What an amazing situation

"On a resource ounce basis, Tharisa, a Johannesburg-listed chrome and PGM producer, has the highest exposure to rhodium of 12% of resource ounces."

The Nornickel announcement is massive. Tharisa, Sylvania and Jubilee only amount to circa 250k ozs annual production, the baskets are going to hold up very well I would think over next 4 months. Thanks for posting Sailing John.

Palladium up 4-5% following Nornickel announcement this morning. Loss of 3-4 months production due to mine flooding and complex nature of fix - could be longer?
They say they will lose 710koz PGMs - might impact Rhodium as well.

I too went for 25k, I was a bit shocked that the choices we were given were 25, 40,50 rather than 10, 20,30,40. Seems to me they were somewhat hyping it and Phoevos' smirk and promise to tell us his choice at the end suggested he would go for 40k or 50k, but then he never told us, as you say probably because most of us chose the lowest figure. I am glad the price has come back as was in a real bubble and the rhodium price has always tumbled from previous bubbles that were and are unsustainable. However profits at $10k or $15k would still be fabulous, let's just hope we do now return to $2k but this bubble has another leg up after this healthy profit taking imho. PS amazing how share price recently has been flat through both the soaring and the tumble

Was it not 40 and 50? Eitherway I also went for 25 and suspect that is why the results weren't presented at the end! 25 would still be amazing

More like $30k to $25k - a natural correction after a rocket rise . Means the basket is down 10% from high after a 70% rise from H1 average

Rhodium prices this week seems to have a sharp correction from $26k to $22k ( - anyone has views on this?

Meeting seemed pretty decent, they seem to have sensible plans to spend the cash they are generating at a rapid clip on projects which will enhance the business and drive down unit costs, they waste a large part of revenue by outsourcing smelting so makes a lot of sense to that themselves
