tenpen - could not agree more with your comment - A CEO who can turn round a super tanker like TSCO in such a short time is worth every penny and more - A £15 million package would be considered very parsimonious in the States and even £75 million would not have raised many eyebrows.

The problem with UK plc is that managment who fail get massive rewards and only in extreme cases do people get upset !

Under performing management need to suffer financial penalties. Could go on but you get the message.

Indeed I like the products,too.
Things like nectarines, they are immensely superior to our local supermarkets.
Some of the taste almost artificial...don't know what it is exactly.

Tesco and Sainsburys only own at most 30% of their supermarket Freeholds whereas Morrisons is well over 75%.

Yes, the same business model is used with the Hotel and leisure sector with Hilton, Holiday Inn, Marriott etc.

The above may be of general interest but does not involve Tesco directly. The property had in the past been sold by Tesco to L & G who in turn have sold it on to another third party. This will have no effect on Tesco's cash flow.

This is what both Tesco and Sainsburys have been doing over the past few years, sale and lease back.

On the other hand Morriosn's still own over 70% of the Freeholds to their supermarkets.

This now means instead of owning the Freehold, Tesco now has to pay £2.7mln per year to lease back their supermarket.
