As suggested in my post 30451, 375 needs to be achieved and then held as a support line. This is looking increasingly possible, particularly with the present strength against the general conflicting weakness of the market. |
Brilliant and let's push on towards 400
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
More positive numbers out for tsco.
Britain’s largest grocer Tesco gained the most share, its 28.5% hold of the market is 0.7% higher than this time last year, and it also saw its fastest rise in sales since April 2024 at 5.6%. |
Starvation will save the planet
Yes, energy prices are hurting the food sector. But burning more fossil fuels is not the answer

Funnily enough a place I used to work at years ago when staff caught a shoplifter they would take them in the back and ...well let's just say they didn't shop lift from us again!Interestingly, most staff that I know go much further than the company asks them too as they hate seeing them get away with it if they did what most retailers want them to do which is basically standby and watch them then the problem would be far worse than it is now. |

Yes I think there is a great chance of a 400 challenge this year.
It may be around the 2nd divi as I do wonder what the impact of the new tax / NI rules will have come April.
Good luck all 👍🏻 |
I would suggest that if the share price breaks upwards of 375 and then holds it as a new support line then there is a real chance that figures above 400 will be attained in the not too distant future. I have pencilled in a target of 420 - 430. |
Ic podcast TSCO mentioned heavily. I surprised the ic never mentioned growth for Tesco is a increase in the population in the UK, net population increase by 600k in 2023, and they have to eat... |
Dave Lewis deserves a knighthood for turning Tesco around, inherited an extraordinary mess and put the business firmly on the road to recovery. Current CEO has an 'easier' job. |
Tim3 Just let the shopkeepers (or joe public in said shops) sort the problem out themselves, there and then.
Such stealing will soon stop.
California 7-Eleven workers beat robber with stick until suspect starts crying Note scrotbag is filling up a large waste bin, not jsut taking a handful, or small grocery bag load. Got off lightly imo.

Until the police start taking it seriously and attending (and maybe even catching and punishing) no amount of security will make much difference. |

Retail crime: Record levels of theft and violence in our shops
The Co-op's food business says a partnership between police and retail is helping turn the tide ahead of long-promised help from the government, as an annual industry report paints a bleak picture for both stores and their staff.
The survey showed £2.2bn of recorded store losses from theft - up from £1.8bn over the previous 12 months.
That was despite a £1.8bn industry investment on bolstering security over the period in a bid to get ahead of the thieves, from those operating independently to organised criminal networks. |

Tesco to cut around 400 jobs
29 January, 2025
Tesco is to cut around 400 jobs as part of plans to “simplify” its business operations.
The move will impact jobs in its in-store bakeries and mobile phone shops, as well as its head office in Welwyn Garden City.
The supermarket said it is having to find more efficient ways of working as the grocery sector becomes increasingly competitive. |
Wonder what Tesco estimates the UK population to be now given food consumption.
It was c 75million back in 2008/2009 I recall.
Official population currently 69.3 million
Woefully underestimating true populace imo
Wonder how many dont complete the census, are here illegally("up to 2 million") and yet still vote Labour at the elections... |

'My family farm has thrived for 100 years - but won't survive Rachel Reeves betrayal'
Farmers have been hit by changes to both agricultural property relief and business property relief at Labour's October budget.
A fourth generation farmer who risks losing his family’s nearly 100-year-old farm because of Rachel Reeves’ inheritance tax raid has slammed her decision as a “betrayal”.
Tom Walton’s dream is to eventually pass £5million Church Farm, in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, to his son or daughter who is set to be born in June this year. |
Finally some common sense, we really need this in the UK! |
