Strengthen the balance sheet ie allow us to prove the drug for COVID19 alone to prevent us being taken out on the cheap on this drug that already works on many viruses.

A couple of thoughts from the Placing news release;

Use of proceeds

COVID-19 clinical trial activity GBP7m
Manufacture of SNG001 drug product and other supply GBP4m
chain considerations
Strengthened balance sheet for potential partnering GBP3m
discussions with regards to the COVID-19, future
pandemic preparedness, and the COPD opportunity,
working capital and fees

So with £4m allocated to manufacture and supply chain considerations does show they are planning ahead. And I would have thought quite a few doses could be available with £4m.

And another thought is that this is not completely a binary bet on success of the Covid trial.

Also from the Placing news;

"Synairgen has recruited 109 of the 120 patients required for its IFN-beta trial in COPD, with data expected in Summer 2020".

So the COPD trial could be positive irrespective of the Covid results. Summer 2020 is not far away. Cash should be okay to end of the year to see that through

And last but not least is LOXL2 may still progress.

All in all I am very positive. Thanks for your work on the thread Nobby!

Not quite the full story in that Alliance News piece.

It's not just for the trials.

From the RNS:

The net proceeds of the Fundraising will be used:

(i) to fund the COVID-19 clinical trial activity;

(ii) the manufacture of the SNG001 drug product and other supply chain considerations; and

(iii) for general working capital requirements and to strengthen the Company's balance sheet.

_________

Number (ii). Manufacturing the product. In my view, they'd only be doing that if they thought the trial was going to be successful and to meet subsequent demand. :o)
