Gina Rinehart has form with Anglo American. In 2005 she outbid them and took them to court to prevent them getting a stake in her beloved Pilbara iron ore market. It would be no surprise if she steps in again to see them off.

The way the board caved in at the first sign of an offer indicates punters should go with the offer. The only hope would be for another suitor to enter the fray. Looks unlikely.
