kreature = The st-dc or the combined councils take control of the tunnel and make plans to repurpose it into a commuter 'hydrail' zero emissions subway, slicing 1 hour off the journey to Whitby/R.H.Bay. Plans made for an additional access shaft and subway station at the old radar station. House prices boom in the area. Only a prediction though.

it just doesn't make any sense here to me... The Severn Tunnel is only 7km and over 130 years old, leaking water complicating electrification. It could have all been replaced with new tunnels, benefiting millions of commuters. Instead we have a part link to some dubious rock that no-one needs in the UK, and no gap in the market overseas. It seems ridiculous to me. ps It’s probably fine but I’d rather travel in a modern dry tunnel:
