In-line performance

In many ways, the update from the company was a case of ‘so far, so good’. The construction of its ambitious production facility in North Yorkshire is moving ahead as planned, with there being no cost or time overruns at the present time.

There has also been progress in terms of finding the right contractors. In fact, on this front the company has been able to make pragmatic changes in recent months which may lead to the delivery of first production up to six months earlier than previously anticipated.

The development of further customer relationships remains a key goal for the business. It anticipates there will be progress in this regard over the medium term. It is also continuing to make progress with agronomy trials, while it expects developments to be made on its mineral transport system following the progress on early works and mine shafts.

Hi Diesel, yeah I'm not sure about a buyer as I said, but I can't think of another reason to be honest. It's only an offer to convert early; bondholders aren't obliged to. So why would they agree to, unless someone was prepared to buy the shares? Genuinely unsure as to why, and also surprised we are down but there you go! Our price only goes where the trades take it, so obviously someone is selling! Will be interested in seeing if there is anything unusual post close.

Sirius Minerals offers bondholders extra shares for early debt to equity switch

The UK mine developer says the early conversion of bond will release cash earmarked for interest and reduce overall indebtedness ahead of the anticipated Stage Two financing later this year.

PPVN, not sure about a buyer, very unususual at this stage of a company's development.
Surely the incentive for bond holders to convert early is the rising share price and to avoid the chance of the 85% rule forcing the issue.
The incentive for the company is harder to understand, can't calculate the cost saving, but suspect it's clearing the decks for stage 2 fundraising.
