Cheers Johne,

Great result for the Blades. Amazing comeback!!
I was not impressed when Robbo signed Beattie, he never impressed me at Everton, but I take it all back, he is doing the business for the Blades!

Eggbird,

Excellent learning tools and check out the realtime demo - not the same as trading for real though.

I hope that helps

Good morning to you too Eggbird.

I use Capital Spreads. I don't actually short but, bet for the shares to go down. I think short selling is a very risky thing to do, although lots do it with success.

If you spread bet, you can also go long, far cheaper than buying the shares.

Regarding the Wendys - they will be back, mark my word - especially if we slip up, big time - but, that's not going to happen, is it?

Have a good weekend

Morning JohnE,

Congrats on your shorting activities, something I have never done, but getting increasingly tempted to. Who do you short through?? IG index?

The fun of it all indeed!! I have noticed how the bragging wendy fans who once couldn't keep themselves from constsnatly posting on this thread have completely dissapeared.......I wonder why that is?? ;-)

Hello Eggbird.

No, I am not in. I have been too busy shorting the finance sector and adding to shares, which have been brought down in sympathy.

As I stated, SUT is always on the radar but, I am not ready to go in yet. I keep checking on the actual prices - which are always considerably different to those shown by ADVFN. The spread is much tighter in reality.

With your patience, I think it will pay off for you eventually.

We will be off to The Lane, in a few hours, to try and encourage the team to win today.

I see that the bookies have us as favourites to win but, not convincingly. Wolves have a good away record.

I will also be interested to see if The Wendys continue their stunning run - away to Preston today - they are in need of a win also.

The fun of it all - LOL

Up The Blades!!!!!!!!!

Johne1 - if Hendrie makes a return and stays fit through the game I think he will prove to be the key player against Wolves. However, if he doesn't play then our midfield will have to up its game to break Wolves down.

Am watching with interest who we start with as a strike force.
Presumably Beattie and Sharp with Webber and Stead in reserve?

I may be in love with the team, however your assumption that I would therefore buy this share is a mistaken one. My investments lie in other areas away from anything that may be influenced by personal feelings one way or the other.

Does that make me a bad Blade or a sensible one? Only those who have ridden the roller coaster of SUFC share ownership for some time can advise!

All I know is that Kevin McCabe is no mug. He does NOT put money where he does not think he can recoup it and some on top and he has surrounded himself with like-minded staff who have helped turn SUFC around.

I do take your point about the Hungary deal, but maybe that's what makes the difference between me and Mr McCabe - he can see the things I can't.

Good to have another fan posting as well.

Your in love.

As I said, with market conditions regarding property, this is a bad investment at these levels.

There is a lot of investment going out, with not a great prospect of much coming in. Why did you buy the share because you are a blade or you wanted to make money?

I would have said before the dillution a couple of moinths ago, they were a reasonable play, but not now. imo

Agree with you though, that we are far better managed than at any other time.

Don't see any point in the Hungarian deal at all.

you obviously didn't look at SUFC in previous years - pre the current directors?
we were a roller-coaster team, both on the pitch and off it
Kevin McCabe and staff have turned SUFC around by careful investment and management and as a supporter I can honestly say - director-wise we've never had it so good.

I believe SUFC are investing in these markets for two reasons

firstly I believe that in owning a club in China they are getting a foothold on a potentially massive market for merchandising and TV, coupled with the fact that should any players look promising that they can put them into the team in Belgium that is a feeder ground for SUFC and ultimately play for SUFC if they make the grade, this would open up a massive market for marketing SUFC further throughout China. The Chengdu Blades purchase was done with a long term view.

I believe investment in other areas is done with the same reasoning - the South American football market/tv audience is massive, again coupled with the fact that young players brought up through Brazil could come to the UK to play for SUFC and reap benefits in both merchandising AND on the pitch.

Yes, property WILL devalue at some point however that is not the only thing that SUFC via McCabe's companies are investing in - they are investing in people - players, coaching staff, back room staff with the ultimate aim to make SUFC a strong club, both on and off the field.

How will that benefit SUFC?

In my opinion, it shows that the business model is spent in this country with property being the main business to fund the Blades.

Property WILL devalue over the coming months / years which WILL have a negative impact on UNited.

This shows that the real business plan is to have a World Football company owning clubs across the globe.

CHina, Hungary, Mcabe Jnr was in Brazil trying to tie up with a team.

WHat contribution has the CHendu Blades made to the coffers?

The SHare price flatters this company

So, Kevin McCabe is pursuing the acquisition of the Ferencvaros club. Another interesting situation arises and I hope it works out well. Judging by the early comments, I would assume that the club could be catapulted back into the Hungarian first division but, I am not so sure about the problem with hooligans - that may be a problem which is not so easy to cure, even with cash injections.

Any comments?

Blimey, are there??? If Rangers and Celtic played in the English Premiership, I don't believe they'd finish above 5th place with current squads (though they'd bring a lot of revenue and travelling support, and I think that more top players would be attracted to go there if they were playing on a bigger stage, so in time they would have parity with the Big 4). The remainder would become like the Swedish league.

I used to watch Aberdeen occasionally when I lived nearby, but it's strange living in a town with only one club! The nearest "derby" is Inverness, cos the two Dundee have each other's rivalry, so there's no-one to hate :-) With financing in current times, Aberdeen haven't the money to compete, but they're always being compared to the Cup Winners Cup team of 1983, so there's a permanent sense of underachievement

No worries Spangle93 - I didn't read your post properly and I was only kidding. If there was no action/reaction, (just banter really), between rival fans/supporters, football would be shall we say, less entertaining.

Some good Scottish teams - do you get to any matches?

Sorry, Johne1. I wasn't clear, or maybe after so many years you can't take good wishes from a Wednesday-ite :-)

I meant I'd rather see United in the Premiership than no team from Sheffield.

Of course, I'd rather see Wednesday in the Premiership than United, but unless they suddenly get inspiration and "do a Sunderland", that's not going to happen.

Unlikely to be me abusing you on the M18, as I now live in Scotland ;-)

Was it you, giving me the finger today, on our way towards the M18? - It was someone with Wednesday flags and scarfs in the windows of the car - only kidding. Someone did salute us and that is the reason why any chances of a single Sheffield team are out of the question. Would Wendys surrender their blue for red and white stripes?

I've still not really come to terms with what happened at Glanford Park. The Blades appeared to me, to be asleep for the whole of the first half. We seemed to come to life, when Webber entered the arena and soon got a goal from Beatties excellent assist. The second goal, (Webber again), quietened the The Irons and raised the decibels in the away stand.

It was quite obvious that Gearey was fired up, from the start and it was a matter of time before he would be dismissed.

It's still early doors but, Robbo will have to keep working hard, because the standards in defence are simply not good enough.

Anyway, a bit of a rest from matches for a couple of weeks, to rest, train and be ready to take Wolves apart at The Lane.

Anyone else go to the match today? - or any matches, for that matter!!

Sigh. 3 minutes into today's game and Wednesday are 1 down already.

I had real hopes this season, when Utd were relegated under unfortunate circumstances and Wednesday finished strongly, that the local rivalry would spur the two teams on towards the top flight.

Instead, it seems that for the blue side of town, last year's situation of relegation avoided by the end of January was an aberration, and it's business as usual at the wrong end of whatever league we are in for the next 9 months.

Good luck to United - I'd rather have one Sheffield team in the Premiership next year than none, even if from my perspective it's more likely to be the wrong one.

Still watching the shares. The spread is advertised at 10% - I will check the actual offer price on Monday. I haven't bought any for some time now and whilst not much is happening has usually been the best time to buy, leading to eventual profits.

Any comments?

Getting ready for a trip to Sunny Scunny.

Cheers
