22/7/2007 12:01 | Hope so S66, Not long now till the season begins! LOL: Former Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock has been approached by the BBC to take part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing. "I cannot dance so I'll probably look like a plonker, but I never say never - I'm game for anything," said Warnock. (People) | eggbird
22/7/2007 11:10 | I reckon Robson has one or two more quality signings to make, once done we could see a tick up then Eggbird. (I'd LOVE to know what wages Cardiff are paying FOWLER!) | s66blade
20/7/2007 16:37 | Never been a big fan of Hendrie's temprement myself, but he is a good player, especially for the Championship, and impressed a lot of people at stoke...most of the time. 3 X 10k trades gone through today at full offer. Im surprised the share price didn't tick up. | eggbird
19/7/2007 20:01 | Not sure about the Hendrie signing - supporters should give hime a chance though - I suppose I was well impressed with the performance by the Trinidad and Tobago trialists - Silvio Spann and the goal keeper, at Alfreton. I've heard nothing about them since though. I was relieved to read that a contract is not to be signed for Doumbe - hard working but, poo technique and ability. Meanwhile, thrifty McCabe has been out to the former eastern block, eyeing up potential bargains. I believe in speculation but, bottom line, if deals are done, we know who will fork out the cash. These things, usually, spell dilution. The next company accounts will be an interesting read. Lots of unforeseen expenditures to be accounted for!!!! All in my humble Bladesman opinion. | johne1
19/7/2007 18:59 | David SOMMEIL has returned to France. Didn't quite live up to his promise. | s66blade
19/7/2007 12:19 | Nice one S66............Its all action at the Lane today then!! | eggbird
19/7/2007 12:03 | HENDRIE HAS SIGNED. NADE TO HULL IS OFF | s66blade
19/7/2007 10:13 | Robson has given up on Gravesen.... Possible future stars of Hungary at the Lane.... Robson not spending for the sake of it.... Hendrie in talks with SUFC.... | s66blade
18/7/2007 22:30 | Agree with your comments UK and hvs (lets hope for some good news on DAN in the next few days). The only hope left in all this fiasco is some compensation for sufc, time to get on with preparations for the new season in the championship. | eggbird
18/7/2007 17:27 | It just would not be possible now to re-instate SUFC at this late stage of the pre-season. Any point deductions applied to WHU would have to now relate to 2007/8. WHU have pulled off the "Great Escape" (twice!) and let's hope they get "hammered" by the FA and all the other teams in the premiership. SUFC only recourse can only be the compensation claim through the courts. Time to move on. Regards UK | uknighted
18/7/2007 16:38 | it appears that fifa may become involved in the tevez saga.however the rumour on talk sport is that west ham would suffer a 6 point deduction to apply next season.sufc would still be relegated to the championship.the tone of the debate appears as one might expect to be west ham centred and whether it is fair to them.it would be interesting to see where this leaves sufc if it is established that tevez continued to be practically owned by a third party.i wonder if the premier league have even asked joorabchian whether he terminated his side of the third-party agreement. You couldnt write the script could you? | grantonh
18/7/2007 11:32 | I have been accumulating a few of these over the last 3 days again, noticed there seem to be a lot of bigish buys in the range of 20-50k going through....Im starting to wonder whether this could become a takeover target soon. BMC has almost gone, and SOO has anounced today that they have more than 1 interested party. After that it only really leaves SUT! A decent start to the season should see the share price back up to the 20p region, and if they are pushing for promotion, then we could see the highs from may 06 when they hit 28pish for the same reason. All IMVHO | eggbird
17/7/2007 12:11 | Robson says that we already have players who do the same as Phillips so is not interested in Philips. and the same article says that BR is still pursuing Gravesen. | s66blade
17/7/2007 09:08 | I can see why BR has Spann on trial - he was excellent last night, in my opinion. Can we have him? | johne1
16/7/2007 09:52 | Nade to go to HULL? | s66blade
16/7/2007 08:37 | Sheffield United will need to pay £1m to land Kevin Phillips from West Brom. (Times) But the Blades will miss out on Celtic midfielder Thomas Gravesen, who has opted to stay put. (Times) | eggbird
13/7/2007 16:04 | That's that then: - and and | johne1
13/7/2007 09:05 | Now it all starts to become that much clearer ... Hope you are not relying on this guy too much. And to think he nearly bought West Ham. PHEW !!!!!!! | spec12
12/7/2007 22:29 | I wonder with all the interests in football clubs, with even SWFC reputedly a takeover target, has McCabe by diversifying the club into property actually harmed the PI rather than helped? Especially in a rising cycle of interest rates. Gravesen was poop for the Tic and Doumbe too. I hope neither comes to the Lane. Bryan Robson out! U heard it here first :) | mach10
12/7/2007 22:15 | Sheff Utd continue Gravesen talks Gravesen scored six goals for Celtic last season Sheffield United are continuing talks with Celtic in an attempt to sign Danish midfielder Thomas Gravesen. Boss Bryan Robson opened discussions with Celtic earlier this month for the 31-year-old former Everton favourite, who joined the Bhoys from Real Madrid. Blades plc chairman Kevin McCabe told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We've been trying to negotiate terms with Celtic. "He's on our list, so now it's a question of can we conclude terms and does the player want to come to us?" Gravesen failed to establish himself in the Celtic first team last season after his £2m move from Real Madrid. However, Gravesen has indicated that he wants to stay in Glasgow and may be reluctant to move to the Championship. Gravesen, who has also been linked with Toulouse, is currently training with the rest of the Celtic squad at their camp in Switzerland. | eggbird
12/7/2007 22:14 | Blades upbeat for High Court date Tevez is at the centre of the Sheffield United-West Ham saga Sheffield United believe they have a strong chance of winning a favourable verdict over the Carlos Tevez affair. The Blades have a High Court date on Friday after an arbitration panel upheld the decision not to dock West Ham points over the striker's signing. The Hammers were fined £5.5m for their handling of Tevez's move and that of his fellow Argentine Javier Mascherano. But Sheffield United hope documentation from Kia Joorabchian, the duo's representative, can help their cause. Club lawyers have been in touch with Joorabchian, who is prepared to hand over all the documentation relating to Tevez's contract if Friday's High Court ruling goes in favour of Sheffield United. A source close to Joorabchian said: "If the judge rules all the paperwork must be made public we will be forced to co-operate. "We have no idea how significant the paperwork may be. All we know is we have done nothing wrong." It is understood the documentation could potentially be harmful to West Ham's case and in the long run that may go some way to helping settle the contractual wrangle which is holding up Tevez's transfer to Manchester United. But Joorabchian would prefer for the matter to be settled out of court. West Ham were found guilty on 27 April of acting improperly and withholding vital documentation over the duo's ownership. When Tevez and Mascherano were registered as players, West Ham failed to disclose that they had entered into an agreement with third-party companies. Sheffield United had launched their first appeal after they went down on the last day of the season and West Ham stayed up. The three-man arbitration panel, headed by retired High Court judge Sir Philip Otton, did not have the power to change West Ham's punishment but could have ordered a new independent commission to judge the case. The Blades are set to claim the arbitration panel made an "error in law" by not ordering a new disciplinary commission to deal with the affair. And while chairman Kevin McCabe has accepted the club will not be reinstated to the Premier League he is looking for up to £50m in compensation. "I think anyone who looks at it and says one club has been wronged then the only recourse to make that wrong right is financial," he added. "If you say that the Championship play-off game is worth £60m and Sheffield United's attendance last year was 31,000, with full hospitality boxes and restaurants and broadcasting income, you would say compensation is around £50m." | eggbird
11/7/2007 08:39 | Derby have called in football ambassador Craig Brown to try and save Claude Davis' £3m transfer from Sheffield United - he needs a work permit but did not play in 75% of Jamaica's games last year. (Daily Star) | eggbird
10/7/2007 20:04 | Sven2006 - 10 Jul'07 - 19:44 - 2316 of 2317 You are probably right Sven and I just can't wait to be at the Walkers Stadium to watch a big away win, for The Blades. Mind you, I think the last time we were there, we lost 4 - 2. We did better at BDTBL though, with a 4 - 1 win. 'tis October when we come, I think and I might be away, at that time. | johne1 |
