Sheffield United have won a High Court battle with West Ham in the Carlos Tevez saga.

Mr Justice Teare granted a temporary order stopping the Hammers appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over a ruling that they had breached Premier League rules in signing the Argentinian.

This will allow the Blades to go ahead with their arbitration claim for damages over their relegation from the Premier League last season.

The court battle over whether the arbitration tribunal's findings can be appealed to the CAS is expected to return to the High Court for a full trial next year, when Sheffield United will be seeking a permanent injunction.

An independent tribunal ruled that Tevez was not eligible to play for West Ham at the end of the 2006-07 season.

The Argentinian, who now plays for Manchester United, was deemed to have played a key part in the London club's Premier League survival as the Blades were relegated.

The South Yorkshire club are expected to claim up to £30million from the Hammers, but this will be assessed at a future arbitration hearing in private.

The Blades went to the High Court to stop West Ham appealing against the arbitration tribunal's findings that hiring Tevez was in breach of Premier League rules - and the South Yorkshire club were entitled to recover damages.

When West Ham filed an appeal from the arbitration decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland, the Blades claimed this was a breach of the arbitration agreement between the clubs and that the CAS had no jurisdiction to hear such an appeal.

The judge granted Sheffield United's application for a temporary order restraining West Ham from taking any further steps to pursue an appeal or challenge the tribunal's findings other than by way of an application to the High Court.

Breaking news that we've won a court injunction against Wet Spam - but I don't have the full details.

£30m + Valon Behrami as a goodwill gesture would suit me.

I heard it was May or June next year, but these things take time - and loads of meetings about future meetings (on expenses) in the meantime.

As an aside; I have a *very limited edition* of 'Hitchin Blades' badges.

Only sixteen were made.

I'm keeping a full set, but have passed a couple on to another couple of Blades in Hitchin for free.

Offers invited for the rest.

Typical derby s66.

Chose which team is in form they can go either way and rarely very pretty to watch.
Our form has been dire since and we look set to be struggling just like last season unless a white knight with lots of money comes along.
Laws and excellent manager given the hand he is dealt.

Luckily there are 3 or 4 quite poor teams floundering at the bottom.

Ah well, looks like Maggot Eggheadsun got out of West Ham in time.

Ill wind an' all that in the current economic/shares climate I suppose.

so what about alloting shares?
what will happen to the Tevez money, if SUFC ever benefit from it?
the current squad are up to aq 6th finish at best and do you trust the owners
with any money they receive?
Property investing, posing as a premiership outfit in China to no avail, giving warnock his nervous breakdown, do you trust the board with SUFC plc, don't forget with football clubs the football board can delist without going into admin

Even as a Wednesdayite I hope you get something out of the cheats in London, however does one seriously think that WHU will be forced to find £30m, I doubt it.

it would be nice if some of that was paid to us lovely shareholders as a special dividend, but I doubt it.

West Ham are faced with having to pay a crippling £30million in damages to Sheffield United after an independent tribunal ruled against them over the Carlos Tevez affair - according to The Daily Mail.

Worth buying at anything less than 16p, I think. At about 8.25p as I write this.

Always don't be bragging about one win. I will be happy at the end of the season just to be in better shape than last year and as we have lost our best striker after the first game owts possible.

As I see it the Blades were unlucky. I am an Owl buts lets not be gloating yet unless you are big enough to show your facve round here when the opposite happens.
