01/8/2007 10:14 | They must have picked the most interesting bits out - so far all we've had is Sean Bean alledgedly swearing at Warnocks wife and son in Warnocks office after relegation. (Bean has already spoken in the Mirror to deny it). Oh and at how he was disappointed at Ferguson's team selection on the final day. Not sure if it mentions HIS team selection and HIS tactics throughout the season as contributing to relegation though - good at trying to deflect blame is our Colin. He is so desperate for attention since he is not managing anyone (although he thought he'd be snapped up straight away) that he is acting like a child - look at me, look what I'm doing - isn't it naughty? I wouldn't BUY the book, won't even borrow it from the library as he'd even get a few pence from me doing that. | s66blade
01/8/2007 09:54 | Extracts from NW's book appear in The Sun this week - for anyone interested. Regards UK | uknighted
01/8/2007 08:43 | s66blade - 1 Aug'07 - 08:25 - 2363 of 2363 Fair comment. I got the impression that Robbo was taking the opportunity, (pre-season), to get the lads passing, long and short, balls. Overall, I was impressed at how some of the new lads are fitting in. The Millers are a dogged side. I think their goal keeper is, at least, 60 years old, so they perhaps tried to be easy on him. 'tis good to see Gillespie on the ball. Perhaps with Billy Sharp on the end of his crosses, results will happen. The Blades will prevail. By the way, it was almost like a typical away match - loadsa nutters and quite a bit of noise. Oh yes - Geary is desparate to score a goal and I predict he will have one under his belt, by the end of this coming season. | johne1
01/8/2007 08:25 | Not sure if anyone went to Millmoor last night (Eggbird/Johne1?) Talking to a colleague who did go - we looked the poorer side in 1st half Their keeper was hardly troubled throughout. Gillespie Man of Match for putting in some lovely crosses (no one on end of them) Naysmith looked good as did Geary. Result 0 - 0 Verdict - Webber needs to learn to have a shot at goal instead of tying himself up in knots with the fancy footwork. | s66blade
30/7/2007 19:41 | Sheff Utd confirm bid for Beattie Beattie would need persuading to drop into the Championship Sheffield United have confirmed they have made a bid to take Everton striker James Beattie to Bramall Lane. Everton are believed to be prepared to listen to offers in the region of £4m for the England striker they paid Southampton £6m for in January 2005. Boss Bryan Robson told the club website: "We've put a bid in to Everton and we've got to wait and see. "If I can persuade him to drop into the Championship, hopefully for only one season, he would be a good signing." Beattie has suffered a frustrating time at Goodison Park since his move two years ago. He arrived on the back of a successful spell at Southampton, where he had broken into the England squad. 606: DEBATE Are all Blades fans totally against this move as this is the general opinion I seem to be reading SB His 76 appearances for Everton, including 51 starts, have brought him just 13 goals and he has fallen down the pecking order. Robson said: "I've got a couple of things in the pipeline that are very close. "Hopefully in the next 24 or 48 hours we can move forward with that." But Robson admitted his interest in Celtic midfielder Thomas Gravesen is not likely to bear fruit. | eggbird
27/7/2007 13:19 | Ooops - did I touch on a sore point? :-) | johne1
27/7/2007 13:17 | Johne1 - I've a real aversion to standing in a cow shed watching football - also, unfortunately work is taking me away from that particular pleasure! | s66blade
27/7/2007 12:22 | OUTSOURCER - 27 Jul'07 - 08:35 - 2350 of 2355 I did mention McCabes window shopping venture, a while ago. I just wonder if there are plans to issue more shares, to pay for the club? - In my opinion, that is a way that McCabe can build up the property portfolio and get the share holders to put up the money. The sort term down-side is dilution! Any thoughts? | johne1
27/7/2007 12:04 | Have you got your swipe card S66Blade? - up in the world, or what? | johne1
27/7/2007 11:05 | I would add that we STILL need at least one more STRONG, INTELLIGENT midfielder | s66blade
27/7/2007 10:55 | Eggbird - not so sure - Beattie has been knocking goals in, in double figures for many a season - last season being one where he didn't. If he were to come I would take it that Robson is planning to get rid of one or two of the existing forwards - Horsfield and possibly Nade (who has obviously already expressed a desire to move on). I would then think that Sharp, Hulse, Webber, Stead, Beattie & Shelton would be a strong bunch of players to call upon. | s66blade
27/7/2007 10:14 | Hmmmmm, I hope there is no truth in this rumour about Beattie: Sheffield United will make a £4m bid for Everton striker James Beattie. (Daily Mirror) | eggbird
27/7/2007 08:58 | OUTSOURCER read this story a week or so ago - looks like this is a bit of both - the club has debt and a buyer is needed, the Budapest authorities are throwing in a "major development" site with the club which I assume is a major factor for McCabe. The obvious bonus would be that SUFC may get first refusal on any future Hungarian stars of the future. | s66blade
27/7/2007 08:35 | This is from the BBC papers talk section : Sheffield United plc chief Kevin McCabe has bid to buy Hungarian club Ferencvaros, which is £5m in debt but owns valuable land. (Daily Star) I wonder if this is a personal deal for him or a club transaction. | outsourcer
27/7/2007 08:23 | Latest rumour : James Beattie? Fine, but get rid of a couple of strikers we already have - Horsfield and one other (but who?). | s66blade
26/7/2007 08:32 | Paddy has signed. A contract has been offered to one of the recent trialists - Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper. | s66blade
23/7/2007 18:01 | 100k at 16.5 (0.5p over the offer)....Nice! | eggbird
23/7/2007 10:39 | -- Whoever takes BROWN on will miss him for the first 2 games - he is serving a 3 match ban for headbutting !!! | s66blade
23/7/2007 09:19 | !! dead right uk - we may pick up more yellow cards in midfield !! Another bit of news is that we are looking at a 22 year old called Richard CLARKE - midfielder, captain of Newry (who we played last week and beat 3 - 1) Apparantely Robson made enquiries about him straight after the game and may make an approach. CLARKE is apparantely doing 5 days training with Bury (as Newry manager has contacts there) this/next week. | s66blade
23/7/2007 08:57 | Yep, with those two playing there may be the odd occasion when SUFC finish a match with 11 players. Regards UK | uknighted
23/7/2007 08:22 | Big rumours today about Michael BROWN - approach to be made by SUFC. Now get BROWN alongside HENDRIE (hoping that they can get on with each other) and I think that would be a good start. | s66blade |
