Much attention on potential upside from the new cruise ships, I would not knock although having spent 5 years on the receiving end of uncompetitive Saga insurance pitches I'd like to see the broking side at least stabilise - especially given the reserves releases from underwriting appear to have been largely used up, to bolster profits.

Employee reviews don't lend a great deal of encouragement, affirm a crass management culture, although in fairness Direct Line doesn't inspire in this respect either:

Diku,

On that basis why would anyone, anywhere ever invest in anything new? Do you have any entrepreneurial spirit left in you? Come on.

Yep keep going erogenous.Only depressing thing today is Boris promising to pay public sector workers more. What's the matter with him and Hunt trying to outdo each other on spending. They're trying to woo Tory members most of whom are congenitally opposed to Big State so why are they try to outdo Corbyn. F...ing ridiculous.

I got involved with Torotrak and lost, not big but again was pulled in by the energy saving potential - F1 use - Allinson etc.

But was almightily clobbered by Mouchel and Oxus Gold. Why I didn't get that Oxus was 50/50 I'll never really understand other than I saw it as my Caribbean Yacht and lifestyle!

I was hoping to retire at 50 but got banjaxed by legislation.

Ahhh cenes. I must have been one of the few that made money on that, not that it was enough to cover my losses on countless other bio dogs. My initial approach to investing was high risk biotechs - I thought I knew better as I am well qualified in that area, but the reality was it made me fall in love with the concepts and a hopeless investor. Won’t touch them now, decided a decade ago that managed funds would make up 50% of my holding....so trusted Woodford with about half of that...yeah I admit I’m not the greatest.

Fortunately realised Woodford lost the plot when he had such a large stake in dodgy bios and ditched him before the real damage was done. Somehow I’ve ended up with what should be enough to retire on when I hit 55, but I’d rate myself a C-

EJ,

that sounds like a well thought out strategy and I like the conditionality about it all. Do you do this for all of your shares? Some of mine are 'hit and hope' but none of them are as strict as you appear to be.

Anyway if you fancy loosening up and joining the hit and hopers, Bigdish (DISH) has a great idea with huge upside potential. One day I guarantee you'll use it or a variation of it.

unfortunately Standard Life still got 14% to offload, will take some time to shift to bottom feeders, 33p to 39p not bad for traders though...

Boss of Saga travel on Ian king live.
New ship in the background to be launched by Duchess of Cornwall today.

It all sounded very promising.
Feeling comfortable about this investment.
